Job Title: -- Industrial Carpenter II
This is responsible journey level work in carpentry, construction and maintenance activities. Work involves responsibility for the performance of the more complex skilled carpentry tasks in the construction, alteration and repair of wooden structures and equipment. Assignments are usually oral or written, but may often be in the form of penciled layouts, rough sketches or blue prints. Work is performed independently with considerable latitude for determining materials and work methods used and are subject to inspection by a superior upon completion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Builds furniture, cabinets, counters, bookcases, screen doors, moldings and other wooden articles.
Repairs and installs locks, adjusts and repairs door closures.
Repairs windows, installs glass, install air conditioning.
Supervises projects requiring several carpenters.
Performs highly skilled bench work in a carpenter shop operating power saws, planes, and other standard carpentry and cabinet making tools.
Concrete block laying
High School diploma from an accredited school or its equivalent. Two (2) years of experience in carpentry work at the journey level.
OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities and other competencies necessary for success in the target position.
Must possess a valid state of Florida driver's license.
Must maintain a valid telephone number.
May be required to work overtime, or alternate hours, as necessary for the efficient operation of the department. Position may be designated as Mission Critical by Department Director.
Thorough knowledge of the standard practices, materials and tools of the carpentry trade.
Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
Skill in the use and operation of carpenter tools and machines.
Ability to read, interpret and work from sketches, blue prints and specifications
