Murdoch is currently recruiting for a Carpenter-Maintenance Construction/Technician II.  The primary purpose of the Plant Maintenance Section is to ensure the successful operation of the physical plant and facility infrastructure. Carpentry is responsible for:

  • requisition and procurement of materials, project management, and construction of new structures.

  • all aspects of building maintenance, including the renovation, repair, and functional alteration of 600,000 square feet of building space.

  • door adjustments, lock repair and installation, cabinetry, furniture repair, pouring and finishing concrete, masonry, vinyl and ceramic tile replacement and installation, roofing, and fabrication of adaptive items for Murdoch Center's clients.

  • Work performed by carpentry maintenance staff involves the use of hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment.

  • Work is reviewed by a supervisor through inspection of completed work for quality and compliance with work orders.

Work schedule is 7:00am to 3:30pm with a half hour lunch, Monday - Friday.

This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance, paid sick/vacation/holidays, retirement, etc.

Management Preferences:

  • Experience in commercial/industrial maintenance environment

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one (1) year of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas

or

an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualification May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
