Job Description Facility Maintenance Carpenter Brief Job Description: Primary focus is to provide maintenance support to plant facilities and operations by performing preventive and predictive maintenance.

Maintenance team members are responsible for the safe removal, assembly/disassembly, repair, installation, improvement, and preventative maintenance of production equipment. Reports to and receives assignments, instructions, and direction from the Supervisor. Reads and interprets instructions and documentation and plans work activities.

Knowledge of residential and commercial construction along with remodeling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control. Proficient at the following tasks: stain-grade trim work, hang doors, drill and set door hardware, layout for stairs and common rafters, utilize appropriate math skills. Able to read blueprints. mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material estimates.

Ability to move materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work site. Builds and erects a broad range of structures in support of construction and maintenance activities. Good safety and environmental performance are job requirements.

Employees are expected to support all Safety, Environmental, Quality and Personal Development activities/systems. The site is a smoke free work environment. This position requires flexibility, initiative, and perseverance to troubleshoot and solve problems.

Additionally, the position is expected to anticipate problems and take decisive steps to avoid adverse impact on the facilities. Job duties may also include general maintenance and upkeep of facilities, and support of equipment as needed. As a Facility Maintenance person, you will be responsible for completing various maintenance tasks around the plant in an accurate and safe manner.

The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to the following: Assist Maintenance and Operating Teams with general maintenance and equipment repairs Maintain complete records, manuals, technical references, prints, and diagrams associated with all plant maintenance and repair activities Interprets blue prints, sketches, and verbal instruction. Update work instructions, procedures, and other media Use desktop computer Environmental responsibilities include proper disposal of waste materials to prevent pollution and use of proper safety procedures to reduce employee health risk.

Prepare the layout of the work project. Estimate height, width, length, and, other proportions, including angles/degree's. Select materials.

Read blueprints, and, take instructions from his supervisors. Work with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, and drywall. Utilize chisels, planes, saws, drills, and, sanders, to repair and erect structures.

Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives. Work safely from ladders and scaffolds. Verify work along the way to ensure it's up to code and specification's.

Use levels, rules, plumb-bob, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure. Proficient experience in installation of wood and metal stud wall framing. Install cabinets and molding, and, finish trim.

Hang sheetrock, tape, spackle, and sand. Create structures for pouring concrete. Ability to paint after sheetrock is set, finished, when needed, brush, and roller type work.

Replace ceiling tiles, and doors. Repair, or, build commercial furniture. Install partition's, doors, and, windows.

Move and install machinery. Roofing experience is a plus. Minimum Competencies Required:

Pass pre-employment medical and background screenings 3 years of experience in industrial plant maintenance Knowledge, skills, and ability to safely use maintenance tools and equipment Prior industrial work experience: multi-skilled/multi-disciplined/multi-craft Excellent communication skills Ability to follow and help write detailed maintenance procedures Knowledge of quality systems Behavioral Competencies Required: Demonstrated interpersonal and teamwork skills Flexibility and adaptability to changing work schedules and priorities Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously Exhibit good judgment, problem solving, high ethical standards, good oral and written communication skills, comply with procedures and mandated rules and regulations.     Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision.

    Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 1.
