Position Overview:

The Carpenter will use woodworking skills to build and repair various structures and equipment throughout the facility. They are responsible for designing, building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, furniture, and other items using different types of materials including wood, plastic, fiberglass, and steel. When they are not doing carpentry, they must be willing to support other projects to include general laborer support. The Carpenter must have all hand tools, such as hammer, pliers, screw drivers, tape measure, level, square, etc.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Collaborates with employees concerning work orders, prints, and sketches to understand the structure that needs to be built or repaired.

• Estimates layout, equipment, tools, and material requirements for each job.

• Work with blueprints or instructions from supervisors.

• Work with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.

• Builds, dismantles, and repairs structures, and other projects as assigned.

• Operates all necessary tools to complete a job. Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure.

• Install partitions, doors, windows, and other structures.

• Prepares and dismantles scaffolding as needed.

• Ensures tools and equipment are properly cleaned, stored, and maintained for optimum performance and safety.

• May perform painting as needed.

• Assist with jobsite safety to comply with all OSHA regulations and the hth companies' Safety Program.

• Actively champions a positive workplace and safety culture.

• Performs various other duties and functions as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

• Basic math skills.

• Knowledge of basic tools and their applications.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Working understanding of safety principles, practices, and procedures.

• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

Physical Abilities

• Ability to lift, push, pull and move up to 50 lbs. on a routine basis.

• Ability to climb Ladders and stairways regularly throughout the work shift.

• Ability to observe conditions and others as safety attendant staying alert while seated for long periods of time as needed.

• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and other tools and equipment in a safe and controlled manner.

• Ability to perform inspections of site, tools, and equipment.

• Ability to perform behavioral observations focused on safety and process improvement.

• Ability to follow safety protocol and to report any incident, unsafe act, or unsafe condition immediately to the site supervisor and safety manager.

Training

• Must provide proof of successful completion of OSHA 10 hour within 60 days of starting at hth companies.
