SUMMARY DESCRIPTION Supervise and participate in the planning, lay out, construction, repair, and assembly of temporary and permanent buildings, additions, partitions, and wood or concrete structures and fixtures.
Responsible for supervising the work of journey men carpenters and laborers engaged in carpentry repair, alteration, maintenance, construction, and installation of all types of wooden, brick, and concrete block structures and equipment. Foremans responsibilities are pre-planning work for a crew and overseeing safety procedures, quality of workmanship, production costs, and the morale and attitude of a crew PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Plan and schedule work for the group ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate manning space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with blueprints and specifications Knowledge of safe work practices including safety precautions for operating power equipment, working in traffic, and under hazardous conditions Complete knowledge and ability to install interior carpentry including but not limited to, metal studs, drywall, ceiling systems, and doors Monitor and enforce safety as it relates to job site operations, including Weekly Safety Tool Box Meetings Construct the wood framing and install the dry wall on construction projects Develop plan for work sequencing prior to starting work, including daily field meetings with personnel to allow preparation for days requirements Monitor coded hour and material costs Record accurate time cards and codes for Bookkeeper Proper use of DBC tools, equipment, scaffolds, ladders, power tools, and heavy equipment including rented materials, forms, bracing, and scaffolding systems Coordinate all related work, excavate and backfill, resteel, imbeds, mechanical, and electrical Coordinate with other trades so as not to cause delays Requires alternative solutions to be quickly generated to resolve scheduling conflicts, project delays, and design modifications Follow established planning procedures, schedules for job/manpower, and equipment Help with A.W.Q.s (Additional Work Quotes) and other required reports Keep Daily Foreman Report Participate in all meetings such as Project Pre-Start Meetings, Self Perform Meetings, Pre-Construction Meetings, and Progress Meetings Ability to work as a team member and foster a cooperative work environment QUALIFICATIONS (Skills, knowledge, experience) High school diploma or GED At least 5 years of extensive knowledge and skills in carpentry including supervisory or lead experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience Understanding of civil, architectural, structural including mechanical, electrical drawings coordination of all shop drawings Complete understanding of form systems, concrete placement, and construction procedures Able to quickly identify potential schedule conflicts and generate and implement needed modifications Complete understanding of layout, set up of control and benchmark line, and level use of transit, laser, and level Organizing work scheduling and coordination with ability to give clear instructions and providing leadership Ability to supervise the work of others Must be familiar with the duties of other craft workers and with the materials, tools, and machinery they use Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction Adept at establishing relationships with all parties involved in the construction process to facilitate harmonious working relationships during projects Able to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others Ability to keep records and to prepare work and time reports Possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record CORE VALUES Relationship Focused Quality Positive Attitude Results Driven PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Requires the following physical activities and motions repeatedly or for prolonged periods of time Stretching Stooping Bending Squatting Lifting Crawling Climbing Pushing Pulling Twisting Kneeling Throwing Walking Hammering Standing Reaching Rubbing Requires possible lifting of 55-80 lbs. over long distances Uses tools such as float, tamp, trowel, screed, template, hand shovel, and push broom or 10'-16' straight edge on extended handle Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements.
