Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The CAN Program Manager will assist coordination of operations of the Carolina Autism and Neurodevelopment (CAN) Research Center. Responsibilities will include: coordinating CAN meetings and events, participant recruitment, facilitating collaborations between researchers, facilitating engagement of community members and organizations, and dissemination of research findings.

Required Education and Experience

This position requires a Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in Psychology or related field (e.g., Biology, Social Work, Communication and Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Neuroscience) by the start date of employment and three (3) or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with non-profit or other community-facing centers; Excellent interpersonal skills; research experience or experience with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders; experience with public relations; Foundational knowledge of research methods and child development.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Proficiency in basic computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Work with the CAN leadership team to help plan and coordinate CAN science events, including external speaker seminar series, internal weekly meetings, and faculty retreats, as well as generate summary reports of CAN activities (e.g., annual performance)

Facilitate communication amongst CAN members, including creating and dissemination of monthly newsletter, maintaining internal documents such as meeting agendas and notes, managing CAN calendar, creating events to increase CAN involvement across

Facilitate engagement of community partners, including organize the CAN Community Advisory Board meetings, maintaining ongoing and new partnerships with community groups (e.g., DDSN, clinics, non-profits), plan and execute community-focused events.

Build and maintain CAN research registry and community email lists. Duties include: pick up referral forms from local clinics, making direct contact with each family interested in the registry, enter families into registry, ensure at least monthly emails to families via the registry, disseminate information about CAN research studies and events to CAN registry and community members at community events.
