As a caregiver you would be providing non-medical, in-home care services to the elderly.

A Caregiver hired by Lamerson Landy Care Inc. is expected to possess certain skills and

qualifications to be able to efficiently take up the aforementioned responsibilities. The following

describes the primary skills, qualifications and responsibilities expected of Caregivers employed

by Lamerson Landy Care Inc.

This includes but is not limited to:

Basic Activities of Daily Living

Caregivers for Lamerson Landy Care Inc. assist elderly clients with the following:

  • Bathing: assisting with grooming activities such as shaving, and brushing teeth and hair
  • Dressing: assisting with choosing appropriate garments and being able to dress and undress, having no trouble with buttons, zippers or other fasteners
  • Eating: being able to assist client in feeding oneself
  • Transferring: assisting client with being able to walk, or, if not ambulatory, being able to transfer oneself from bed to wheelchair and back
  • Continence: assisting client with being able to control ones bowels and bladder, or manage ones incontinence independently
  • Toileting: assisting client with being able to use the toilet

Various additional duties may be required when assisting a bedridden client.

Instrumental Activities of Daily Living:

Caregivers may be expected to instruct/remind clients of the following:

  • Using the telephone: being able to dial numbers, look up numbers, etc.
  • Managing medications: taking the appropriate medications and correct dosages on time
  • Preparing meals: making appropriate food choices and preparing meals safely
  • Maintaining the home: doing or arranging for housekeeping and laundry
  • Managing finances: budgeting, paying mortgage/rent and bills on time, etc.
  • Shopping: being able to shop for groceries and other small necessities, transport purchases from store to home, or order online whenever possible
  • Using transportation: for appointments, shopping, or scheduling transportation companies to pick up and drop off client

Secondary Responsibilities include the following:

  • Contributing to a positive living environment to enhance a clients quality of life
  • Performing other reasonable duties as assigned
  • Reporting hours according to office policy
  • Reporting any significant changes in a clients needs or living conditions
  • Regularly communicating with supervisor and office staf

Requirements

1) Ability to bend, twist, stoop, kneel and reach

2) Ability to lift, push, or pull 25 pounds

3) Must have a high school diploma or equivalent

4) An AA, MA, CNA (preferred, but not required)

5) Practices good interpersonal communication

6) Organizational abilities

7) Time-management skills

8) Problem-solving skills

9) Decision-making abilities

10) Multi-tasking ability

11) Ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment

12) Attention to detail

13) Must have a current drivers license and own transportation with valid Insurance

14) Must clear a background check through DOJ and FBI

15) Must clear TB test

16) Must register with the state of CA as a Home Health Aide
