The Career Technical Training Manager plans, directs and supervises the operation of the Career Technical Training Department
1.Demonstrates and abides by the Company Core Values and the operating principles2. Plans, directs and supervises the activities of the CTT Department.3.
Projects and plans for student completion and instructional needs. Ensures proper teaching methods are being employed for the subject area being taught through regular classroom observations.4. Plans, administers, and stays within departmental budget.5.
Assesses personnel needs and works with the Human Resources Department to screen and interview potential staff members. Conducts and prepares staff performance appraisals.6. Prepares and submits reports as required.
Ensures proper Training Achievement Records (TAR) on each student's progress, performance, etc., are maintained by the instructors and proper record of student attendance is maintained by the CTT Department adhering to the Center's Quality Assurance Plan and Procedures. 7. Formulates proposals and makes recommendations to the Career Development Director on all changes in policies and procedures pertaining to the CTT Training Department8. Plans and facilitates CTT Advisory Council meetings and contributes to Community Relations Council Meetings. 9.
In conjunction with the CTT and Academic staff and Career Development Director, researches and selects appropriate programs, curricula, and materials for use within the CTT Department. Ensures all of the above meet Center, CSD, and Department of Labor requirements and standards.10. Conducts regular classroom observations of all assigned areas to ensure a high quality of instruction.
Monitors and coaches staff on the use of differentiated instruction in the classrooms. Ensures that students with disabilities are being appropriately accommodated in instructional areas.11. Responsible for processing and monitoring all CTT classroom and student schedules. 12.
Ensures that all students complete the activities and testing for Primary and Secondary Certification. Monitors testing to ensure the Testing Integrity and security of the testing process. 13. Maintains positive communication with all educational partners, including all Work-Based Learning, Clinical and Externship sites on and off center.14.
Creates and facilitates professional development activities for staff based upon center and individual needs.15. Collaborates with the Academic, Career Preparation, Career Counseling, and Career Transition Services Managers to ensure continuity of student services, student retention, and attainment of all required student outcomes.16. Orders all needed supplies, materials, and services to maintain a high quality of training for Career Technical Skills Training (CTST) projects in all the CTT program areas that are eligible.17.
Contributes to the maintenance of the center's WASC accreditation status.18. Develops a planned orientation program for new instructors and provides continuous coaching and mentorship.19. Conducts regular staff meetings with appropriate staff.
Assists with the planning and facilitation of regular collaboration for Career Management Team Meetings with other departments.20. Attends all required staff and management training sessions.
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in education or work-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three years of supervisory experience. Experience and knowledge of workforce and career technical training programs
Preferred: Experience in teaching/training disadvantaged youth. Previous work experience with Job Corps.
Knowledge Required: Sound working knowledge of career technical training programs, excellent communication skills, both oral and written, ability to inspire and motivate staff, ability to effectively relate to student population, must obtain and maintain valid CPR/FA Certification, must obtain and maintain valid CPR/FA Certification. In order to perform the essential job functions of this position, candidate must be able to compose/write descriptive reports; use appropriate techniques to implement programmatic activities; verbally direct individuals and groups; coach and redirect students and staff; successfully complete mandated training courses.
