JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Career Services unit at Penn State Behrend is seeking a Career Services Specialist to assist our students in the development of career-life plans that include the exploration of career identity and career possibilities. This position will prepare students for their transition into the professional workforce or graduate school.

This role will provide individual or group setting career coaching and/or counseling. The position will counsel and prepare students for internships and full-time positions including job search guidance, resume reviews and interviewing skills; develop and implement communication strategies to promote opportunities to students.

This position will engage in employer outreach and development initiatives to promote employment opportunities for students and alumni; foster relationships with companies, alumni, and industry partners to secure new internship or job opportunities; develop employee recruiter networks. This position will teach career development courses in accordance with academic unit/campus policies and will represent Career Services at functions such as the career fairs, information sessions, and outreach initiatives.

The successful candidate will create and maintain a high level of professionalism and communication, be able to interpret and communicate information clearly, accurately, and persuasively. They will demonstrate new approaches for problem solving, improvements, and efficiency through research and analysis along with demonstrating advanced knowledge of the concepts, practices, and procedures of an employment specialist.

This position requires a bachelor's degree and 3+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Some weekends and evenings are required.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$51,000.00 - $74,000.00

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
