CAREER PLANNING SPECIALIST

GRANT FUNDED, TEMPORARY PART-TIME

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Butler County Community College (BC3) is currently accepting applications for the position of Career Planning Specialist. This is a temporary part-time grant funded position that will begin immediately and continue as long as grant funds are available to support the position.

Reporting to Dean of Students, the Career Planning Specialist is responsible for serving as a resource for potential employment opportunities for students and graduates, including internships, practicums, and job development. Responsible for assisting students in developing skills and behaviors needed to effectively engage in internship and/or employment. Assist with resume and cover letter writing, interviewing skills, job searching, and professional portfolio creation. Provide career information by working with faculty, classroom presentations, career fairs and workshops. The Career Planning Specialist will also manage the Colleges digital job platforms. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Education or related field required. Master's degree from an accredited institution in Student Personnel, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Education or related field preferred. Counseling/academic advising experience required. Community college experience preferred. Experience in assisting individuals in career counseling in an educational or social service setting preferred. Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work well with various constituencies including external employers. Computer proficiency required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software preferred.

Hourly rate will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin immediately. BC3 is nestled in the rolling hills of Western Pennsylvania and only 45 minutes from the cultural life of Pittsburgh. BC3 offers over 100 courses in online and distance education. In addition to degree programs, BC3 has a public safety training facility at its main campus that serves 15,000 students annually for business training, industrial safety training, and public safety - fire, EMS, Hazmat, and police training.
