The McHenry County Workforce Network has an opening in their office for a Full Time Career Planner. McHenry County Workforce Network is a federally funded program under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. The purpose of the department is for the training and developing of the workforce in McHenry County for in-demand occupations that present opportunities for employment. The Department also offers services to local businesses, helping them increase efficiency, productivity and employee retention.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Recruit and work with Adult Workforce Program Customers, ages 18 and up.

  • Review applications for eligibility following federal and local guidelines.

  • Meet with customers to register for program services.

  • Provide employment and training services to eligible customers by assessing needs, barriers and developing plans for services.

  • Appraise customer interests, aptitudes, skills, and abilities for vocational and employment planning.

  • Counsel customers regarding educational and vocational goals, barriers to employment and assists with development/attainment of goals.

  • Develop programs and materials and teach classes/workshops on career and job search related topics.

  • Build relationships with local employers to provide entry-level internships and job shadowing opportunities.

  • Administrative duties include customer file management with all required documentation, maintaining up to date, accurate information on customers entered into electronic database.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree required.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in communications, social work, counseling, human resources or related field (preferred)

  • Strong computer, organizational, presentation and interpersonal skills.

  • Bi-lingual preferred

Experience:

  • One to two years of related experience
