BASIC PURPOSE:

The Dean of Academic Innovation is responsible for providing strategic leadership and vision to the Pottstown Campus and in service to Academic Affairs. The Dean champions the growth and development of Pottstown Campus initiatives within the Tri-County area, promoting the College and its programs throughout the community. The Dean provides leadership to the Pottstown campus director, the directors of workforce, executive director of Educational Partnerships, manager of the Challenger Learning Center, and the manager of Youth Engagement and Educational Pathways. With this team, the Dean leads development of innovative, high priority offerings in credit, noncredit, professional education, and enrichment programming that responds to community, K-12, and workforce needs. The Dean of Academic Innovation has the critical responsibility to provide creative and collaborative leadership to pathway programs, including dual enrollment and other high-school based support programs, as well as new and novel pathways to the College. The Dean is a visionary who cultivates innovative projects, programs, and initiatives for the Pottstown Campus and the College at-large. As a member of the VPAA and Provost's leadership team, the Dean acts to further the institution's goals towards diversity, equity, and inclusion. This position has college-wide responsibilities that require travel between all campuses and to off-site locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the strategic operations of the Pottstown Campus and serve as the Academic Affairs lead at Pottstown to ensure all areas work collaboratively toward the best interests of students and the campus community.

  • Lead AA strategic initiatives and enrollment goals for Pottstown Campus and provide direct oversight of the schedule of course offerings at Pottstown to ensure student success and completion of degree and certificate programs offered at the Pottstown campus.

  • Supervise the director of workforce, who manages contract training, continuing education, and non-credit courses and provides support to workforce partners and community leaders and ensures relevant training, career-based workshops, and lifestyle programming.

  • Supervise and support the director of workforce - information technology, who directs the non-credit IT offerings, including Cisco Academies.

  • Guide and supervise the executive director of Educational Partnerships, who directs dual enrollment and several student support programs.

  • Supervise Challenger Learning Center and Youth Engagement managers to meet strategic and academic goals.

  • Drive innovative programming at the Pottstown Campus and within Academic Affairs.

  • Serve as a thought-leader and promoter of educational, community and corporate pathway programs.

  • Initiate meetings and maintain regular contact with representatives of business and industry, community organizations, municipalities, school districts, colleges/universities/proprietary schools, and professional associations to promote engagement in college programs, to develop good working relationships and to develop needed programs and services to align with area workforce needs.

  • Recruit, hire, supervise, evaluate, and develop faculty, staff and administrators in the Division of Academic Innovation.

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships through effective communication among faculty, students, staff, administrators, and external constituencies.

  • Serve as cost center manager in the development and administration of the unit budget (operational, capital, grant, personnel).

  • Develop and prepare communication plans, presentations, and reports for internal and external audiences on Academic Affairs data, initiatives, and goals.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Education/Training/Work Experience:

  • Master's degree in higher education or related field required; doctorate preferred.

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive administrative management experience required, and preferably in a community college setting.

  • Some teaching experience within a community college setting is preferred.
