Summary

Are you ready to step into the spotlight of technical leadership? We are seeking an Associate Technical Director to join our dynamic team and contribute to the orchestration of cutting-edge projects. As the Associate Technical Director, you will work closely with our Technical Directors to drive the execution of our client projects, ensuring flawless delivery from conception to completion. You will also play a vital role in overseeing and implementing innovative concepts and strategies across various technical domains including Audio, Video, Lighting, and Rigging. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, providing technical expertise and leadership to ensure the seamless execution of projects. This position presents an exciting opportunity to dive deep into the technical intricacies of event production while working alongside industry experts.

This position will support our Production Technology team. It is eligible to work a hybrid schedule, generally requiring work in-office and/or show-site 2-3 days per week. The ideal candidate will be based out of any of the following locations:

  • Orlando, FL
  • Nashville, TN
  • Boise, ID

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Works closely with Production Technology team to assist in event design and pre-production, onsite execution, and post-production activities in line with event budget, timelines, and expectations.

  • Acts as technical support and subject matter expert on assigned events.

  • Reviews and makes recommendations on technical aspects.

  • Begins and/or edits technical drawings to be used for on-site execution.

  • Oversees all audio visual discipline leads as they make edits to the technical drawings.

  • Creates diagrams for shows based on budgeted designs; ensure execution team has and understands this information.

  • Oversees load-in, install, dismantle, and load-out of equipment of assigned area(s).

  • Responsible for ensuring all technical aspects are in place for meeting client expectations.

  • Supervises the installation, optimization, and monitoring of all technical aspects.

  • Oversees staging / scenic elements related to audio visual production to ensure it is within established show design parameters.

  • Produces staging / scenic elements related to audio visual production involving multiple elements, mediums, and materials.

  • Generates and maintains a comprehensive production work book and schedule for each event.

  • Coordinates logistics with multiple vendors for all audio visual related needs.

  • Manage technical 3rd party vendor partners.

  • Assists in scheduling and/or recommending of personnel to optimize resources.

  • Manages both internal and external labor resources.

  • Assists with workflow of technical teams.

  • Navigates, negotiates, and supervises all on-site labor including both internal and 3rd party.

  • Oversees all safety aspects including daily huddles, general safety checks, and incident reporting.

  • Stays abreast of industry trends and knowledge.

Education & Experience

  • Ability to effectively engineer instructions in written, oral, and/or diagram form.

  • Ability to effectively communicate how to install and troubleshoot various related equipment.

  • Ability to effectively incorporate problem-solving techniques.

  • Ability to effectively apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry to relevant situations.

  • Ability to correctly calculate figures such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Experience in AutoCAD or Vectorworks with the ability to develop, share, and interact with files.

  • Proven aptitude in Microsoft Office suite.

  • Basic knowledge of audio, lighting, rigging, video, and scenic systems.

  • Ability to navigate ambiguous situations.

  • Experience in navigating high-pressure situations involving various personality types.

  • General business acumen.
