SUMMARY OF POSITION: Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Career Development, the Career Development Coordinator is responsible for the support and career coaching of adult learners and veteran students to achieve career readiness and success post-graduation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Coordinator of Career Development will work closely with the Assistant Dean of Career Development and the Center for Career Development team to facilitate a comprehensive program for adult learners and veteran students that fosters self-esteem and self-efficacy in academic, personal, and professional success. The Coordinator for Career Development will be an active collaborator to support areas of student professional development including career services, employer relations, internships, experiential learning, professional exploration, and career workshops.
Career Services 50%
Provide career development and job search counseling to students in both individual and group settings, including online and distance mentoring
Assist with development and delivery of career development programming and resource materials across various mediums to provide education to students
Respond to questions and provide information regarding student services, policies, procedures, and employment preparation
Assist with the identification and maintenance of the Center for Career Development's network of employers or other stakeholders to facilitate career exploration and employment opportunities for students
Collaborate on the development and enhancement of the Center website and social media platforms
Participate as a team player in the planning and implementation of all Center programs, fairs, workshops, and outreach
Adult Learners & Veteran Support 40%
Design, implement, and assess programs, workshops, and services that engage adult learners and veteran students in industry/career readiness development
Assist with educating faculty and staff on the unique needs of adult learners and veteran students
Facilitate and steward relationships with employers with veteran-friendly hiring practices
Maintain current knowledge on job market trends, industry standards and changes for adult learners and veterans, revising Center offerings to meet the needs
Compiles data and tracks outcomes of adult learners and veteran students
General Responsibilities for the Division of Student Development & Success 10%
Actively participate as a team member in the Division of Student Development & Success
Utilize office tools and reports such as Jenzabar, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Handshake for Division success
Assist in planning and coordination of student life activities, events, and leadership programs that enhance community connections
Assist with education related to celebrating diversity and inclusion
All other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean of Career Development
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree with 1 to 3 years of experience working within higher education, student affairs, veterans' affairs, adult education, community programs, or related area.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree with 1 to 3 years of experience within higher education, student affairs, veterans' affairs, adult education, community programs, or related area.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of career development practices, veterans' affairs, programming experience, event planning, and strong interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Word and Excel) and Google Workspace (including Drive, Sheets, Docs, etc.) are highly desirable. The ability to work in a complex and dynamic office setting with students, faculty, and staff.
GUIDELINES AND SUPERVISION: Supervision received to do this job, including independence and discretion to do the job.
Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 8:00am-5:00pm; Friday 8:00am-1:00pm
Licenses: Driver's license
