The Center for Career Development in the Chambers College of Business and Economics (CCB&E) at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a Career Development Coordinator/Specialist. This position will play a pivotal role in integrating career and professional development into academic experience within the CCB&E.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Perform a wide range of coaching, programming/workshop delivery, student engagement, and internal relationship development within the CCB&E.
Manage B&E Student Organizations, and career development activities that support current and future student engagement initiatives of the Center for Career Development
Coach students and alumni regarding career decision-making, experiential learning opportunities, full-time professional job search strategies, graduate/professional school, and career/life planning.
Meet with students through group settings, individual appointments, and drop-in hours.
Review resumes, cover letters, and other professional documents (in person and electronically) and provide highly-tailored feedback.
Conduct mock interviews, and provide highly-individualized feedback.
Develop and execute overarching strategies related to the mission of every College-based student organization, both individually as well as how they align with the College's goals.
Meet with key constituent groups (e.g. student members, faculty advisors, and employers) to identify career development and employment interests and needs of their members.
Cultivate, strengthen, and maintain relationships between student organizations and employer partners.
Bachelor's degree required.
Master's degree preferred.
Two (2) years of experience in career services, advising, recruiting, talent management or similar experience
Commitment to working with students, parents, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds in support of an inclusive environment
Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience in a customer oriented workplace.
Ability to navigate and utilize technology for program administration and service delivery.
