Primary Function of Position
As the Career Development Coordinator, your position's main function is to help youth prepare for and secure employment opportunities, thereby fostering self-sufficiency. You will assess, train, and guide youth through the employment process while also building and nurturing relationships with potential employers. Additionally, you will help youth identify career pathways and serve as a staff expert on all aspects of the employment process, including initial job placements, maintaining employment, and career advancement.
Major Position Responsibilities
Employment & Career Preparation: Assist foster youth and their families in reaching employment-specified milestones.
Assist with Job Preparation: Support youth with resume building, job applications, interview preparation, and pre-employment paperwork.
Prepare for Interviews and Employment: Assist in arranging interviews, orientations, and follow-ups after employment.
Tailor Employment Strategies: Collaborate with youth in creating employment pathways that with their unique journeys.
Facilitate Tax Filing: Assist youth in yearly tax process and accessing community resources for tax filing.
Job Maintenance: Educate youth on the how to access and understand their paycheck, request time-off, understand benefits, communicate with coworkers and management, ask for raises, make their schedules, and other job maintenance strategies.
Employment Resource Development: Locate apprenticeship and vocational training opportunities. Establish relations with employers and employment agencies.
Promote Job Opportunities: Connect youth to job fairs, shadowing opportunities, and volunteer opportunities.
Documentation Management: Thoroughly document services provided through meticulous case notes and case file documentation.
Informational Material Development: Develop informative materials for staff, RFC youth and their foster families about employment and career opportunities.
Active Participation: Engage in weekly staff meetings, monthly Transition to Adult Living team meetings, quarterly group life skills activities, and ongoing transition plan meetings.
Additional duties as assigned.
Work Environment
This role is in a professional office environment, utilizing standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Your work will also take you to youths' homes, places of employment, educational institutes, and other locations as needed.
Physical Demands
The role involves extended periods of sitting and standing, walking moderate distances, driving, and occasionally assisting youth with physical activities, such as carrying groceries or household supplies.
Driving is an integral part of this position.

Effective Coaching Skills: Possess strong coaching abilities to guide and support Unaccompanied Refugee Minors in developing essential life skills.
Independent and Safe Work Practices: Work independently in a secure and appropriate manner, demonstrating both problem-solving and proactive problem prevention.
Sensitivity and Responsiveness: Display a high level of sensitivity to the needs of clients, their families, visitors, co-workers, and volunteers. Respond promptly to the needs of clients and colleagues.
Time Management: Recognize time as a valuable resource, consistently responding promptly to clients and co-workers, efficiently performing work assignments, and adhering to deadlines.
Proficient Communication: Exhibit proficiency in oral and written communication in English. Bilingual proficiency is preferred.
Confidentiality Maintenance: Uphold strict confidentiality regarding client information, ensuring the privacy and trust of individuals served.
Computer Proficiency: Demonstrate computer skills, including maintaining case files, completing documentation, scheduling, and using email in Microsoft Office 365.
Position-Specific Functionality: Ability to perform the functions itemized in the nature and scope of the position.
Mission Alignment: Familiarity with and support for the mission of Catholic Community Services of Utah and alignment with the vision of the Catholic Church as articulated by the diocesan bishop.
Education, Training, and Experience
Academic Qualifications: Possess an associate's degree in social work, education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Experience with English Language Learners: Experience working with teenage and young adult English Language Learners.
Multicultural and Refugee Community Experience: Showcase practical experience with multicultural and refugee communities.
Advocacy in Employee Rights: Have a proven track record of advocating for youth within an employment setting.

Position status and expected schedule
This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week.
Your general schedule will occur between Monday and Friday, from 8 AM to 9:00 PM. This schedule offers flexibility to accommodate late afternoon and evening hours for home visits and training sessions.
Additionally, you'll participate in a rotating weekend on-call schedule to respond to emergencies.
