Midland University, a private, liberal arts university in Fremont, Nebraska (just outside of metro Omaha), is seeking a full-time Career Coach Fellow for the Career Studio. This position will be offered within our graduate assistant structure, requiring admission to the University's Master of Education, Master of Science Learning and Talent Development, Master of Science and Sports Administration and Leadership or Master of Business Administration programs. In addition to the academic responsibilities, the candidate will be responsible for contributing to various aspects of the Career Studio. The person who holds this position will receive tuition remission from the University and be compensated hourly for up to 30 hours per week. This position reports to the Director of the Career Studio and supports all Career Studio initiatives.

Job Duties:

  • Assist the Director in the planning and execution of Career Studio events and promote career resources and events to students, staff, alumni, and employers.

  • Coordinate and oversee the execution of social media strategies, tactics, and content.

  • Plan, schedule and conduct classroom presentations regarding career preparedness and career center initiatives.

  • Develop expertise on Gallup Strengths to effectively help students to focus on their talent and to build and execute initiatives for a Strengths-based campus, serve as a Clifton's Strengths Champion

  • Assist students with resume building, mock interviews, skill articulation and storytelling skills

  • Proactively help students with internship and job opportunities

  • Assist in managing and developing a team of front-line student career coaches.

  • Assist Director in leadership development and leadership investment across campus

  • Proactively build and maintain positive relationships with employers, support and engage them, and coordinate opportunities for them to be involved with students.

  • Work alongside Alumni Relations office to engage alumni as needed

  • Be highly involved in Midland events and in surrounding communities and groups to promote Midland's educational offerings, our students and alumni.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree minimum.

  • Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with students, alumni, faculty, staff, and employers.

  • Professional demeanor and strong communicator.

  • A true desire to coach students to help them understand their talent and potential, to empower them in their development into young professionals, and to connect them with employers to attain career goals.

  • Detail-oriented and data-driven.

  • Experience with social media content and building or willingness to learn

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and follow through.

  • Innovative, creative thinker who likes to take action.
