PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Academic Center for excellence, is looking for a Career Advisor and Program Coordinator to provide career advising to students and alumni.
The Office of Career Services has over 160 programs and events throughout the academic year. The Career Advisor, will serve in a vital role within the Office of Career Services, working to coordinate workshops and career service related events and ensure the success of the Career Services Program. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The position of Career Ad visor for the Office of Career Services will provide coaching and advice to undergraduate students, graduate students and alumni regarding the career planning process and career related topics, to include: advising students on career decision-making process and job search strategies; will utilize career assessment tools as appropriate and discuss results with students; will keep current with career coaching and advising resources and tools; will collaborate with student organizations, faculty and staff in preparing and implementing career related workshops; will assess and evaluate programs and workshops; will plan, coordinate and evaluate Career Expos with related constituents; will input data related to career services in internal database system; will utilize organizational skills to create consistent systems and processes to enhance the effectiveness of the Office of Career Services; will act in the role of supervisor, supervising work study students; will collaborate with parents, alumni and employer in developing internships, employment and learning opportunities; will serve in the role of liaison to faculty, departments and student organizations, developing relationships in order to create marketing and job opportunities; will create and administer reports as needed; will work to ensure that the organization and success of programs, services and mission Office of Career Services are met.
Possess knowledge and experience in the field of Career Services to include: career advising, coaching, counseling and career program administration. Must possess the ability to create, present career related workshops.
Experience in project management, organization and time management skills. Exhibit excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Must be team oriented and collaborative. Demonstrated knowledge and experience using and maintaining database systems Knowledge of office procedures and equipment, with experience with Microsoft Office Suite program is required
Experience and working knowledge of the Ellucian Banner and eVA systems is preferable. Bachelor's degree is preferred
