Reports to: Senior Director of Mission and Operations
Salary: $90,000 annually

Hours: Full-time, Exempt, 40 hours, Monday - Friday with occasional weekend or evening events.
Location: Portland, OR. (Travel requirements for this position entail weekly commuting to appointments across Portland, with quarterly travel expected throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington.)

About You:
You are a dedicated leader with experience managing and evaluating programs and leading teams. You have exceptional organizational skills and a clear vision for supporting individuals and their families. Position Summary:
The Care Services Director (CSD) will have responsibility and leadership for ALS NW programs to: direct and evaluate all organization programs and services; ensure direct support is carried out to families and persons living with ALS; supervise staff to achieve performance and professional development goals; manage program budget; and build relationships with current and potential partners.
This position will directly supervise eight staff at 6.5 FTE: 5 care coordinators (3 remote staff), 1 volunteer coordinator, 1 bereavement services coordinator, 1 assistive technology services coordinator.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Leadership
Provide direct supervision of all care services staff and implement regular performance reviews to ensure a talented and high performing program team
Promote the growth and professional development of care services staff with the goal of staff retention of skilled employees
Ensure the proper and necessary training of staff on ALS and programs
Keep current with any state board licensing by attending job-related continuing education programs
Maintains relationships at all organizational affiliated clinics
Program Management & Evaluation
Research and evaluate current and potential services for families living with ALS through regular evaluations and surveys of services by clients and staff to measure outcomes
Maintain accurate up-to-date information regarding ALS, research, care techniques and equipment Respond to people living with ALS and their families for information and support
Facilitate access to organizational services resources such as durable medical equipment, assistive technology, educational materials, caregiving support, financial assistance, volunteer program, and bereavement support
Provide programmatic assistance through facilitation of support group meetings, home and multi-disciplinary clinic visits and resources for family caregivers
Develop and maintain community partnerships that support and fulfill the mission of ALS NW
Program Budget & Development
Work collaboratively with leadership team and the Board to annually review and develop program budget
Monitor program budget, utilize financial reports and provide regular updates to the team
Evaluate cost per client and per service, by territory to determine optimum staffing and program utilization
In collaboration and as needed with leadership and development teams: identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts, corporate sponsors, in-kind gifts, and planned gifts
Collaborate with the agency's grant writer to develop grant proposals and aid in evaluating grant applications.
Advocacy, Community Relations & Marketing
Alongside leadership team coordinate ALS education, awareness, and public policy/advocacy efforts for the organization
Work with communications and development teams to provide updates on ALS education, organizational program activities and resources, as well as, effectively communicate ALS Northwest's mission and vision
Attend and promote ALS Northwest fundraising/awareness events within the ALS community and to the general public
Qualifications:
Master of Social Work degree from an accredited MSW program
4+ years experience of management experience leading a team and supervising social services professionals
3+ years experience in program administration, development, staffing, evaluations, budgeting, and strategic planning
Must have a valid driver's license, car insurance, own a car, and be willing to use your own car for travel
Proficient with technology, social media, Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge and/or familiarity for learning about ALS symptom management and treatment options for people with ALS
Proven success with developing and sustaining community partnerships
Additional Desired Skills & Abilities:
Social work licensure in Oregon, LMSW or LCSW
Experience with neurology and rehabilitation services
Experience working with people facing progressive disability and end of life issues
Knowledge of durable medical equipment, vendors, insurance reimbursement
