Performs dailyadmission reviews to determine medical necessity and appropriate level of careusing Interqual criteria.
Collaborates withphysicians to ensure orders are appropriate for the level of care indicated.
Communicates anyissues delaying discharge or authorization of stay to Director Actively seeksinput from staff and Social Worker on discharge planning or utilization issuesand patient needs.
Facilitatespatient care conferences and ensures patient assignment boards areupdated.
Obtains andchecks pertinent discharge list every morning and ensures discharge level ofcare is documented on all assigned patients.
Assist withensuring all Medicare recipients receive an Admission and Discharge MedicareRights letter.
Associates degree required in Nursing
Bachelors degree preferred
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina
Two years hospital based clinical experience.
Experience in Case Management, Utilization Review and/or discharge planning, knowledge of Interqual and other payer criteria preferred.
Must have excellent communication skills, demonstrate self-direction, and have the ability to work well in a team environment.
