Essential Functions:

  • Performs dailyadmission reviews to determine medical necessity and appropriate level of careusing Interqual criteria.

  • Collaborates withphysicians to ensure orders are appropriate for the level of care indicated.

  • Communicates anyissues delaying discharge or authorization of stay to Director Actively seeksinput from staff and Social Worker on discharge planning or utilization issuesand patient needs.

  • Facilitatespatient care conferences and ensures patient assignment boards areupdated.

  • Obtains andchecks pertinent discharge list every morning and ensures discharge level ofcare is documented on all assigned patients.

  • Assist withensuring all Medicare recipients receive an Admission and Discharge MedicareRights letter.

  • Associates degree required in Nursing

  • Bachelors degree preferred

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina

  • Two years hospital based clinical experience.

  • Experience in Case Management, Utilization Review and/or discharge planning, knowledge of Interqual and other payer criteria preferred.

  • Must have excellent communication skills, demonstrate self-direction, and have the ability to work well in a team environment.
