Responsible for scheduling cases/procedures for the Cath Lab. Collaborates with multiple physician offices and hospital departments to facilitate the patient flow/experience.
Schedules cases/procedures per established procedure.
Works with multiple physician offices to coordinate scheduled cases/procedures.
Works with various hospital departments to coordinate timing/scheduling of cases/procedures.
Coordinates with device reps to be present for scheduled EP cases.
Pre-registers patients and transcribes orders.
Verifies pre-authorization is completed as needed for scheduled cases/procedures.
Advises cath lab staff of add-on or inpatient procedures after schedule has been printed.
Confirms with patient arrival time and reviews instructions with patient via telephone call the night prior to scheduled procedure.
Prepares and sends out patient information packet prior to procedure.
Demonstrates accuracy in entering patient's charges when assisting others.
Assists with accounting for chargeable items.
Reconciles all charges and revenue daily.
Orders specific procedural supplies.
Orders supplies according to unit needs.
Assists the manager/designee with time card computation.
Makes changes on schedule in GStore as indicated.
Serves as unit receptionist and completes clerical tasks under the supervision of the manager/designee.
Welcomes guests, displays friendly and courteous behavior to patients, visitors, and other hospital personnel.
Demonstrates telephone courtesy.
Initiates telephone calls per request of staff.
Maintains current telephone listings.
Demonstrates knowledge of basic medical terminology.
Demonstrates computer proficiency.
Assists with statistical data and disseminates as appropriate.
Initiates work orders for Biomedical, Building and Grounds, and Environmental services.
Assists in maintaining a sense of order at the Front Desk by keeping work surfaces clutter-free, having office supplies available, pencils sharpened and offering ideas to improve operation of the unit.
Demonstrates proficiency in working with office equipment i.e., computer, copying machine, intercom, and phone system.
Performs duties following unit and nursing standards.
Communicates with other members of the healthcare team in order to ensure coordination of services with other departments.
Collaborates with manager/assistant manager to facilitate patient flow in Cardiovascular Services, i.e. pre-op, sending for patients, arranging transport.
Participates in unit operations demonstrating professional behaviors to include supporting goals of nursing unit and maintaining awareness of resource utilization.
Participates in non-direct patient care activities including educational activities, performance improvement activities, and other related activities.
Demonstrates positive customer relation skills.
Adheres to all department and hospital policies and procedures.

High school graduate or GED.
Office or medical experience preferred
Ability to exercise good judgment, maintain effective interpersonal relationships and adapt to change. Ability to spell correctly, write or print legibly, speak clearly, use correct grammar. Ability to organize work. Requires knowledge of basic medical terminology. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to interact appropriately and perform clerical services for cardiovascular patients. Computer skills are necessary.
