The Department of Surgery is seeking a dynamic, innovative Cardiothoracic Surgeon who has the leadership and vision to build a state-of-the-art clinical and research program at UW Health. The incumbent will have a leadership position in heart failure surgery for the UW system, including heart transplantation and ventricular assist. Close collaboration with heart failure cardiology in a multidisciplinary program is expected.

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to: * Care for cardiac surgery patients in the ICU, IMC, cardiac clinic and general care setting. * Provide care and education to patients and their families on wellness care and treatment plans for health disorders, and intervenes in acute episodes. * Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of Advanced Practice Providers to provide care to both well and ill patients. * Rotate through a 7 day a week schedule that includes rotating nights. Education: Minimum – If Nurse Practitioner: Master's or Doctorate's degree from accredited Nursing Program If Physician Assistant: Bachelor's or Master's degree from accredited PA Program Licenses and Certifications: Minimum - If Nurse Practitioner: Active RN and APNP license in State of Wisconsin AND Active board certification as a NP in Adult or Adult/Gerontology Acute Care If Physician Assistant: Active PA license in State of Wisconsin AND Active PA board certification All Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant applicants must have: Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire; CPR certification and advanced life support certifications if relevant to practice area (ACLS, PALS, NRP) Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: * Professional demeanor. * Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team. * Ability to prioritize tasks. Physical Requirements: Medium: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Work Schedule: Rotating Schedule. The Cardiac surgery service will be covered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by a group of 15 APPs. Holiday coverage will be on a rotating basis.
