The Cardiology Technician is responsible under the direction of the Cardiology Supervisor for the performing and processing of selected non-invasive cardiology procedures in a safe and efficient manner. The Cardiology Technician is a member of the Diagnostic Cardiology (non-invasive) staff. He/she works cooperatively with the Cardiology Supervisor and the cardiology team to provide efficient and safe coverage of the department.

Is aware of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g., Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of department or hospital administrative staff.
Purposefully conducts all aspects of the job in an ethical manner in support of the hospital's commitment to ethical behavior in all areas of personal and professional activity.
The Cardiology Technician is alert to potentially hazardous situations and is constantly mindful of the safety and security of the patient.
He/she anticipates crisis circumstances, responds calmly and initiates required intervention.
The Cardiology Technician is aware of the need to constantly update knowledge and maintain competency by reviewing professional literature and attending selected age-specific and clinical educational offerings.

Ensures patients, family and visitor satisfaction with services provided.
Communicates with physicians regarding patient progress related to physical and emotional status and reaction to procedures performed.
May assist in transporting medications that are not controlled substances.
Promotes and ensures respect for patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
Contributes to cost-containment efforts.
Takes call for treadmills as needed.
Performs and completes all non-invasive cardiology procedures efficiently and according to department policy.
Maintains department records completely, neatly and accurately.
Willing to vary schedule to meet patient/department needs.
Flexible and cooperates with co-workers to complete procedures efficiently and timely.
Responds to and initiates established intervention in Code Blue or other life-threatening circumstances.
Reports and processes errors, omissions and incidents promptly in order to communicate unusual occurrence, evaluates need for change in policies or procedures, and assists in planning for prevention.
Participates in educational experiences of students or new associates.
Previous experience in medical field preferred.
Medical Assistant completion preferred.
Good working knowledge of cardiac anatomy and rhythm.
Must successfully complete orientation competencies.
The Cardiology Technician demonstrates proficiency in the manual skills and techniques required to perform and process 12-Lead EKG's, Holter hook-ups, signal average EKG's, treadmill stress testing and arrhythmia monitor application.
He/She is skilled, organized and efficient in performing required non-invasive cardiology procedures.
