Job Description
General Purpose of Job:
Under the direction of the Heart and Vascular Center (HVAC) Clinical Team, the cardiology assistant provides professional, transportational services for patients undergoing procedures in the HVAC. HVAC is defined as the Non-invasive Department, Cardiac Recovery Unit and Cardiac Cath Lab. The cardiology assistant transports patients in a safe and efficient manner throughout Sparrow Hospital and the Sparrow Professional Building. Transports blood, specimens, medical records, equipment, paperwork and other materials throughout the facility.
Essential Duties:
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
Appropriately utilizes Transport Tracker or other organizationally designated system for workflow
Demonstrates Knowledge and use of transport specific equipment and supplies to provide quality patient care and a safe environment
Demonstrates knowledge and ability to apply safe body mechanics in the transport and transfer of patients
Assists with basic patient care as needed
Cleans and maintains equipment and environment and stocks needed supplies
Maintains and monitors oxygen supplies for patient transport in NIC, Holding and CRU
Provides and supports basic technical care to patients as directed by Registered Nurse
Carries out on-call responsibilities as assigned
Communicates appropriate significant information and changes in patient's conditions to members of the health care team
Serves as a role model for consistent demonstration of Sparrow Health Systems Customer Service Behavioral Standards of Performance by respecting the privacy and confidentiality of those we serve.

Job Requirements
General Requirements • Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 60 days of hire. Work Experience • Previous experience in a customer oriented setting. • Preferred- Experience with direct patient interaction Education • High School Diploma or GED Specialized Knowledge and Skills • Knowledge of proper body mechanics. • Physical ablitity to use equipment (wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, cribs, IV poles, portable oxygen tanks, POLECATS, etc. and patients • Basic computer skills; Word & Excel
