Under the supervision of a Nuclear Cardiologist, performs various nuclear cardiology procedures. Operates Nuclear Medicine apparatus and auxiliary equipment.
Prepares patient for nuclear cardiology examination.
Explains procedure in layman terms to relieve patient of anxiety.
Ensures patient is screened according to protocol, and assures consent for procedure has been obtained, when necessary.
Positions patient on examination table for optimum testing procedure and conditions.
Sets-up equipment to administer the proper procedure in timely fashion.
Performs nuclear cardiology procedures as prescribed by ordering physician.
Calculates, prepares and dispenses radiopharmaceuticals to patient. Documents radiopharmaceuticals dispensed.
Obtains requested images using proper techniques. Determines need for more extensive evaluations beyond preliminary instructions.
Collects all pertinent data and calculations for physician interpretation.
Monitors patient condition by directly observing patient during examination, recognizing and reporting abnormal changes.
Acknowledges and reviews images in computer system. Ensures accuracy of all patient data. Processes imaging and prints CDs, as required.
Gathers previous related patient reports, as required.
Performs minor repairs and frequent calibration checks and adjusts equipment. Reports equipment issues to management, as required.
Adheres to Safety and Infection Control guidelines in the performance of duties. Maintains cleanliness of work area, equipment and accessories.

ADA Essential Functions
Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine program, required.
Current New York State Department of Health licensure as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, required.
R.T. (N) registration with American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) OR CNMT registration with Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, required.
Prior Nuclear Medicine experience, preferred
Ability to communicate effectively, required.
