  • 4:30pm depending on the needs of the department. DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION Responsible for operation and supervision of Vascular and Cardiac Ultrasounds. Requires initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to act rapidly in critical situations. Coordinates patient flow and scheduling for optimum utilization of the modality. Ability to perform all Vascular and Echo Ultrasound examinations. Maintains ICAVL/ICAEL accreditation within the Cardiovascular Lab. Performs administrative duties to include, personnel management, staff schedules, equipment maintenance and repair involvement and coordination, patient schedules, and interpretation and application of policies and procedures. Participates on the on-call rotation. Works in collaboration with Director Vascular Lab, Director Echocardiography Lab, Cardiovascular Supervisor, Cardiology Service Line Administrator and staff to develop protocols and standards of care. Provides clinical feedback and recommendations to staff sonographers for technique improvement relative to each modality. Maintains the patient/customer as the highest priority at all times. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.) Experience: 3 years experience as staff Sonographer Education and Training: Graduate of an acrreditated Diagnostic Sonography Technology Program and/or Radiological Technology Program License, Certification

RDCS / RCS - Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer from (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer from (CCI). RVT / RVS - Must be an RVT through the ARMDS, RVS through the CCI, or eligible to sit for either registry exam. CPR - CPR is required. Other

Clinical expertise should include proficiency in scanning of all Vascular Ultrasounds and Echocardiography. Ability to function independently and proficiently in a high stress, work intensive environment. Must be able to move and lift patients, equipment and supplies on a regular basis. Good verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to operate diagnostic Ultrasound unit. Must be able to operate multiformat IMAGER. Must be able to operate HIS and RIS computer systems. Must have working knowledge of film processing units and laser imaging systems. Experience with maintaining ICAEL # ICAVL accreditation preferred.
