Sentara Heart Hospital located at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Cardiac Technician for the Cardiac Procedural Recovery Short Stay Unit!
This position is Full time: Cardiac Tech will work 36 hours a week 7pm to 7am and rotating every other weekend.
Department Overview:
The Cardiac Procedural Recovery & Short Stay Unit (CPRS) is a 6-8 bed unit that is open 24 hours 7 days a week.
The cardiac short stay unit will provide patient care until the patient is discharged or admitted for further observation.
Responsibilities:
The expectations for this role will complete all the patients ADLs, assist with ambulating, and routine care as a Nursing Care Partner/Patient Care Tech but with the added competencies of starting PIVs, and assisting nurses in monitoring telemetry. On-the-job training required.
Education/Certification/Experience
High School Grad or Equivalent
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
o Preferred: 1-2 years of patient care experience

Job Summary
Cardiac Technician is responsible for assisting the RN in the care of cardiac patients. This will include obtaining: vital signs, blood sugar testing, 12 Lead EKG, inserting IV's, blood draws, prepping patients for procedures, stocking and helping maintain the unit and any other tasks deemed appropriate for assisting the RN, Dr and patient. CPRS is a 24/7 unit with patient census of 6 patients during the week and 8 patients on the weekend. This position is for 7P-7A cardiac technician.
Qualifications:
HS - High School Grad or Equivalent (Required)
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Certification
American Heart Association (AHA) RQI, Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT)
Certification
Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
