  • Performs accurate analysis of all cardiac anatomy and assimilates appropriate data necessary for interpretation of study and assesses the same for the staff.
  • Utilizes appropriate communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, physicians and staff.
  • Assists the physician as needed during procedures and monitors physiological parameters during procedures.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in operating and troubleshooting equipment in the Echo Lab.
  • Performs job to ensure quality care is provided within defined area of accountability.
  • Safely transports Echo machine to patient room to perform Echocardiogram or transports patients to department as necessary.
  • Takes call after regular hours.
    8.Restocks work areas with necessary supplies. Keeps work areas clean and orderly to promote patient safety.
    9.Participates actively in continuing education and assists in education of new staff as requested.

  1. Communicate effectively with Department Leader, Clinical Coordinator, staff members and physicians and serves as a liason to promote interdepartmental relationships.
  2. Initiates and documents patient teaching including family and/or significant others. Uses appropriate patient education documentation modality.



  • Two Years Echo experience.



  • Graduate of an accredited program in Echo/Vascular/Cardiac Sonography. Will have confirmation letter from ARDMS with test date by the first anniversary date of employment.

Registered Diagnostic Sonographer.

The responsibilities of the Perinatal Sonographer include, but are not limited to: * Perform detailed fetal anatomic exams, fetal echocardiography, Doppler studies, biophysical profiles, nuchal translucency exams, 3D/4D imaging studies, and gynecological exams; including transabdominal and transvaginal procedures. * Assist Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians with invasive procedures; including amniocentesis, fetal intrauterine transfusion, amnio-reduction, sonohysterography, and other invasive procedures as indicated. * Prepare patients; collect relevant clinical information for completion of accurate procedures. * Perform patient care and daily tasks with a team approach. Interact with administrative staff, nursing staff, genetic counselors and maternal-fetal medicine specialists in a manner that promotes continuity of patient care. * Participate in maintenance of AIUM accreditation. * Flexibly rotate through all HCA Market Perinatal Centers as needed to maintain staffing levels that accommodate patient volumes. * Participate in Perinatal Center quality assurance program by performing audits of ultrasound studies on a quarterly basis as assigned. * Attend and participate in mandatory departmental meetings. Attend and participate in departmental conference calls as needed. * Prepare, utilize, and manage ultrasound equipment. Recognize significant diagnostic information in order to maintain proper functionality. * Perform proper high-level disinfection of endovaginal probes using Cidex or Trophon systems. Maintain daily quality control for infection control requirements. * Perform all necessary computer operations; including reporting and billing functions (Viewpoint, PACS, Meditech, and hPF). * Maintain supplies for all examinations. Assist with annual supply inventory. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum of 1 year as a staff sonographer in Ob/Gyn setting. PREFERRED: 3 years as a sonographer in an Ob/Gyn or perinatal/maternal-fetal medicine setting EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist program and competently cross-trained in ultrasound and/or graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Responsible for maintaining annual certification.
