Responsibilities

We are seeking a Cardiac Care Charge Nurse, internally referred to as our Cardiac Care Unit Charge Nurse at St Joseph Medical Center a member of Prime Healthcare. The Charge Nurse will manage the care of patients, combining clinical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to deliver high-quality care to patients with cardiac conditions.

Bonus Options: Up to a $30,000 (Paid out as stipends every 90 days)

Shift's Available: Nights (17% to 22% differential in pay)

Employment Type: Full Time

Hours: 12hr options - Self Schedule

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • oversee the nursing care provided to patients in the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU), assess patient needs, develop care plans as needed, and ensure that these plans are effectively implemented by the nursing staff
  • supervise the nursing staff in the CCU, including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and nursing assistants which may involve assigning duties, providing guidance, and ensuring that patient care standards are met
  • serve as a clinical resource for the nursing team, provide expertise in cardiac care and they may assist with complex patient cases, offer guidance on treatment options, and ensure that evidence-based practices are followed
  • participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and optimizing the delivery of care in the cardiac unit which may involve monitoring key performance indicators, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing best practices
  • in the event of medical emergencies or cardiac crises, the Charge Nurse leads the response efforts in the CCU, which may include coordinating resuscitation efforts, ensure that emergency protocols are followed, and provide support to the nursing staff during high-stress situations

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • Current and valid state RN License

  • Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current

  • Current ACLS (AHA) 30 days upon of hire and maintain current

  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred. RN-C or PCCN within 2 years of hire preferred
