POSITION SNAPSHOT: Our Captain position ensures Guests' initial impressions with Dave & Buster's are positive and welcoming. The Captain's position requires a strong communicator who will guide our Guests through their Midway, retail, game rental and dining experiences. Our Captains also act as an initial point of contact in the enforcement of house policies and maintaining the safety and security of the unit.

NITTY GRITTY DETAILS:

  • Delivers an unparalleled Guest experience through the best combination of food, drinks and games in an ideal environment for celebrating all out fun.

  • Acts as an initial point of contact in matters concerning safety and security in all areas: front door, Viewpoints, Midway, bar areas, kitchen and back of house areas, dining areas, private event rooms and restrooms.

  • Acts as ambassador to the building, assisting Guests with all requests and answers questions as needed.

  • Greets Guests with a positive attitude and enthusiasm while performing multiple job functions. Smiles and greets Guests upon entering.

  • Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action.

  • Provides timely and accurate service while managing wait times and communicating information as needed to Guests, Team Members and Managers.

  • Competently diffuses difficult Guest situations while protecting the integrity and safety of our staff, building and house policies.

  • Assists with the maintenance and upkeep of the Viewpoint and Midway areas.

  • Assists in the cleanliness and organization of the rental equipment. Ensures all billiard supplies are stocked, properly cleaned and maintained to maximize costs and decrease loss.

  • Checks for restocking of necessary supplies. Brings all areas up to standard.

  • Assists in the rental of Billiards and Shuffleboards, maintaining and resetting the area after each use.

  • Assists with the set up and break down of special events functions as directed by management.

  • Provides game assistance by promptly notifying Support Technicians or Management as needed.

  • Assists and directs Guests to Kiosk areas and answer questions as needed.

  • Ensures that our Guests adhere to house policies as outlined and informs management of any issues.

  • Bids farewell to Guests leaving. Ensures everything was satisfactory and invites Guests to return.

  • Assists other Team Members as needed or as business dictates.

  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company Team Members to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate that will be conducive to maximum Team Member morale, productivity and efficiency/effectiveness.

  • Is dressed in accordance with dress guidelines, looking neat, clean and professional at all times.

  • Must demonstrate ability to read and communicate in English.

VIEW JOBS 12/2/2020 12:00:00 AM 2021-03-02T00:00 * In addition to the application process please copy and paste the link below into a separate browser window for consideration. https://www.cultureindex.com/c/6E6B8A Responsible for the safety of passengers and crew and the safe operation of the vessel * Report defects and other matters with implications for safe operations or pollution risk * Report non-conformities, accidents and injuries involving personnel or equipment and hazardous situations to the Vice President of Marine Operations, as well as USCG * Request assistance from Company as may be deemed necessary to ensure safe and pollution free operation on the ship * Prepare detailed schedules for future itineraries and then advise of any unduly high speed or impractical arrival times, etc. that become apparent * Oversee navigational charts required for the itinerary and for planning are carried onboard * Monitor the operational condition of all navigation instruments, instigating corrective action when necessary * Observe weather and river conditions closely at all times and take proper actions when necessary, while communicating such actions to the VP of Marine Operations * Advise the VP of Marine Operations of unusual delays and/or causes with revised ETA's for the port of call * Review of onboard contingency plans and ship procedures and report any deficiencies to management * Maintain security files and ensure that all notification and reports are made in accordance with Vessel Security Plan * Responsible for the seaworthy condition of the vessel, ensuring the vessel is properly manned at all times, secured and ready for each voyage * Ensure Certificate of Inspection is always upheld and complies with all USCG navigation laws and regulations, compliance with F.D.A., CDC and other regulatory bodies affecting the vessel * Insures that hull penetrations or any structural deformations or cracks get his/her personal and immediate attention * Report any repairs or maintenance involving navigation equipment that needs onshore assistance and/or coordination for repair * Advise of any Reportable Marine Casualty as per (46 CFR 4.05) * With the assistance of the vessel's Mates, ensure that all docking locations are secure and meet requirements set forth * Make routine visual inspections of vessel for purpose of maintaining vessel security, sanitation and general cleanliness on a daily basis and completes thorough weekly inspections, and general cleanliness on a daily basis and completes thorough weekly inspections, documenting inspection results * Ensure behavior and performance supports the company's Mission; promotes year-round success of system * Follow company values in responding to others in work situations * Meet "standards for service" behaviors * Use recovery steps to respond to others who are dissatisfied * Make hospitality standards an important part of day-to-day duties * Be a RESPECT Service System example for others; sets example for values during times when there is conflict and stress * Trains and completes certification for RESPECT Service System of existing and new employees within 7 days of hiring * Appraise and coordinate onboard training requirements * Holds all employees and leaders equally accountable to meet technical, employee and leader standards * Promotes RESPECT Service System: reinforces performance at or above standards and coaches performance below standard * Solicits feedback; takes action to continuously improve success of team * Participate in all safety drills and training Minimum Qualifications & Requirements: * Education: o HS Diploma or Equivalent Required o Bachelor's degree preferred in related field * Professional Certification(s) or License: o FCC Marine Radio Operations license o Radar certification (endorsement necessary as per vessel) o USCG license which satisfies COI requirements of applicable vessel - Unlimited License for all vessels, except for the American Empress which is 500 Ton Master Inland o Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) - if applicable, and/or ability to obtain and maintain o Valid MMC o Valid Driver's License o Copy of DD214, if Veteran status * Skills & Abilities: o Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be fluent in English o Ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a pleasant and professional manner o Must possess leadership qualities with the ability to give employees sound instructions * Experience: o 5-10 years of experience in position with similar duties and responsibilities o Cruise industry experience preferred * Other: o Must be at least 21 years of age. o Submit to and pass alcohol and drug tests as mandated by the USCG including but not limited to pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident/incident testing.
