Capper Operator

Shift: This role is 2nd Shift, 2:15 PM-10:45 PM

Hourly Rate: $19.24 an hour + $$0.25 shift differential

The Capper Operator is responsible for the operation of the briner/filler and the jar capping machine. The qualified employee will monitor machine performance including the low vacuum dud detector. The employee will also be responsible for starting, clearing misfeeds, and restarting the machine. The hourly rate for this position is $19.24/hour. The current vacancy is for afternoon shift, however, seniority does apply.

DUTIES:

The Capper Operator is responsible for the proper operation of both the capper and briner, while monitoring the performance of the low vacuum dud detector. This position works in conjunction with Crewleaders and Supervisors to achieve line goals in quality, efficiency, and labor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

• Ability to learn and recognize cap sizes, crushed lugs, and cocked caps.

• Ability to learn to understand SPC checks as they relate to sorting.

• Must identify and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance issues to minimize production delays.

• Ensure machine and surrounding area is kept neat and sanitary.

• Adapt to changing situations and be able to establish priorities.

• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, Crewleaders, QA, and Supervisors.

• Ability to train employees as needed.

• Accurately complete all paperwork in a neat and orderly fashion.

• Must be dependable, self-motivated, and maintain an acceptable attendance record.

• Ability to read and interpret a variety of instructions/documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Ensure actions remain consistent with plant safety goals and procedures.

• Understand Vlasic policies and procedures.

• Other duties may be assigned.
