About this opportunity:

King County International Airport (KCIA) is seeking a Short-Term Temporary (STT) Capital Project Management Technician I to help deliver capital projects that will shape this "City within a City" for next decades. Through collaboration with KCIA's growing team of engineers, planners, and environmental scientists, you will assist with the planning, design and construction of capital assets including runways and taxiways, stormwater drainage infrastructure, and airfield electrical systems.

Job Duties

JOB DUTIES:

Applying equity and social justice principles is a daily responsibility and foundational expectation for all King County employees. In this role, you will apply equity and social justice principles (ESJ) that exemplify shared values, behaviors, and practices to all aspects of the work.

  • Assist in maintaining construction and contract documentation for the 14L/32R Runway Rehabilitation project.

  • Assist with the technical review of planning and design documents associated with the 14R/32L Runway Rehabilitation project.

  • Respond to general inquiries from consultants, engineers, technicians, and the public regarding work-related matters.

  • Assist in the development of programming and layout documents, including sketching or drafting conceptual layouts and changes of facilities plans based on input gathered from stakeholders.

  • Perform data analysis independently or as assigned, develop program recommendations.

  • Participate in the analysis, interpretation, and application of relevant federal, State, and local, laws and regulations.

  • Provide basic graphic, drafting, and mapping support including field measurements, sketching and photo documentation.

  • Assist with the development, modification, and administration of work order contracts, architecture and engineering contracts, and other contracts as needed.

  • Assist with the review of plans, specifications, and estimates prepared by consultant design teams.

  • Assist with the analysis of the FAA regulatory surfaces and verify determinations.

  • Compile existing documents and SOPs for standard work.

  • Participate in design review meetings.

  • Perform general office support and maintain records for assigned work unit.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3d, and Revit

  • Knowledge of XP SWMM, AutoCAD Storm and Sanitary Analysis, and GIS

  • Proactive, motivated, self-directed learner with good problem-solving skills.

  • Self-starter with ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Skill in working effectively and cooperatively with internal and external customers with a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering; or any equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating knowledge of engineering principles including pavement design, surface water management, roadway design and construction, project estimating and scheduling, and structural analysis.

  • Competence in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Knowledge of capital design and construction project process, including procurement, and permitting.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information, prepare clear and concise materials and communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Able to juggle multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of general government principles and procedures.

  • Good time management skills in order to support co-workers and project work.

Supplemental Information

Selection Process: Applications will be screened for clarity, completeness, and qualifications. The most competitive candidates may be invited to participate in an interview and practical test. Reference checks will be conducted. This recruitment may be used to fill additional vacancies in the next six months.

Union Membership: This position is not represented.

Work Schedule: This is a Hybrid position with up to 20 hours per week of work occurring on site. There may be times when after-hours, weekends and/or holidays are required. This position is non-exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible. Scheduled mandatory overtime and weekends may be required depending on the workload. (To be adjusted as needed per position)
