VDOT is seeking a Capitol Outlay Assistant Director who will provide leadership and direction to Capitol Outlay Project Team, ensure division goals are accomplished, develop strategic plans, implement policies and processes, oversee the program using project management best practices to ensure projects are delivered on time and budget. VDOT's Capitol Outlay Program is responsible for building and renovating over 2500 buildings statewide and oversees a $40M annual budget.

Professional Engineer (PE) license or Architect's License with the ability to obtain a Virginia PE or Architect's license within 6 months of employment. Comprehensive knowledge of building design and construction practices.
Experience applying engineering principles and practices. Knowledge of resource management and allocation techniques. Experience managing a professional staff.
Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Able to build relationships and manage stakeholders. Knowledge of the Commonwealth of Virginia Construction and Professional Services Manual, Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and other codes used in building design and construction. Valid driver's license.
Bachelors Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering or related field preferred; equivalent experience or training may substitute for degree. Significant experience managing construction projects from inception to completion.
Ability to implement organizational change and process improvements. Experience with project controls and tracking projects. PMP Certification.
