Capital Markets Operations Professional I, Analyst

Job Summary:

Position day to day tasks will be the analysis and collation of market data points for all securities traded by the branch. Within these tasks candidate will be required to understand day on day movement of all data points as well as being able to compare the points to "the street" values. In addition, the individual will have to work with the Market Risk group on a regular basis maintaining all the data points as well as adding/removing data points as requested. Lastly the candidate will be required to be hands on during projects UAT/testing phases as required.

Primary/ Responsibilities:

  • Analysis and collation of market data points for all securities traded by the branch.

  • Understand day on day movement of all data points as well as being able to compare the points to "the street" values.

  • Work with the Market Risk group on a regular basis maintaining all the data points as well as adding/removing data points as requested.

  • Hands on during projects UAT/testing phases as required.


  • 1-2 years of related experience

  • Strong interpersonal and communication

  • Fundamental understanding of Excel

  • Fundamental understanding of vanilla products (bonds, interest rate products, etc)

  • Finance degree and/or background

  • Strong organization skills

  • Exposure to Bloomberg terminals

  • Excel VBA knowledge

CCB Risk Chase Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) serves consumers and small businesses with a broad range of financial services, including personal banking, small business banking and lending, mortgages, credit cards, payments, auto finance and investment advice. Consumer & Community Banking Risk Management partners with each CCB sub-line of business to identify, assess, prioritize and remediate risk. Types of risk that occur in consumer businesses include fraud, reputation, operational, credit, market and regulatory, among others Capital Markets play a pivotal role in best execution strategies at various points in mortgage life cycle, spanning across origination, core servicing, and default servicing. Capital Markets Risk is responsible for developing and executing a discipline within home-lending where both risk and return considerations are factored into decision making. Key decisions that are supported include Held for Investment (HFI) Portfolio credit box decisions, HFI Portfolio Whole Loan Acquisition, Securitization initiatives, Whole Loan Sale, Mortgage & Home Equity Pricing & ROE, and periodic approvals and performance monitoring of credit and portfolio management strategies. The Capital Markets Risk Manager will provide independent risk oversight for HFI portfolio management area within Capital Markets. Key areas of responsibility include but not limited to: * Lead the end to end review, risk assessment and oversight of private label securitization (PLS) and loan sale initiatives for HFI portfolio loans in Home Lending risk. * Provide risk support for all Capital Markets PLS securitization initiatives including review of underwriting and manufacturing quality, evaluation of due diligence results and rep & warrant risks to provide risk assessments to senior risk management on PLS securitization deals. * Develop and maintain a dashboard to track performance of Chase PLS deals both at an individual deal and an aggregate program level providing visibility into expected vs actual performance (prepayment, delinquency etc.) * Develop and maintain detailed risk surveillance on market activity for residential mortgage PLS transactions: including deal comparisons- pricing, credit/collateral, rating agency reviews inform and provide risk point of view on PLS securitization initiatives. * Support capital markets business with analytics on HFI Portfolio whole loan sales initiatives. Partner and coordinate with loss forecasting in identifying high risk accounts and provide loss assumptions for baseline and stress return calculations. * Primary risk point of contact for LOB initiatives and NBIAs impacting Capital Markets. Conduct deep dive assessments related to the Home Lending business and provide capital markets risk point of view on new and existing strategies * Work closely with the origination risk team and build an integrated approach to new product/ policy decisions that incorporates capital markets input from a loan salability & securitization perspective. Find gaps in Risk Policies / Underwriting guidelines. Work with Risk Policy to upgrade risk management practices * Develop an effective risk oversight structure through active engagement with the capital markets business unit being supported. Drive decisions through the appropriate governance. * Required Bachelor's degree required in Finance, related quantitative discipline. Master's degree a plus * 7+ years of experience in risk, capital markets or related oversight functions in the financial services industry. * Strong knowledge of US Securitization market, PLS structures, cash flow analysis. Familiarity with PLS Deal Due Diligence is a plus. * Strong knowledge of residential mortgage origination process and P&L. Knowledge of market risk and valuation of fixed income products is a plus * Strong analytical and quantitative skills, critical thinking, investigative problem-solving and balanced decision making. * Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Able to synthesize quantitative and qualitative analysis into concise, executive-level communications. * Adept at interfacing with analytics and decision sciences teams and in driving outcome from those analytics to meet risk management objectives.
