Responsible for performing specific and overall support for department Office Institutional Properties, Capital Markets team. Conducts moderate to complex research and analysis of commercial real estate properties, and market trends.

Scope: Focus on either/or:

  • large vertical or specialty group
  • business function group within Capital Markets

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Valuation Analysis: Generates, reviews and understands property level reports; uses aggregate data from multiple sources to assist in creating a complete analysis and/or recommendation. Extensive financial modeling work in both Microsoft Excel and Argus Enterprise.

Marketing Preparation: Assist in the creation of presentations and proposals for new business development and marketing materials providing recommendations, and creating compelling content in support of the objective at hand.

Due Diligence Coordination: Tracking, organizing and coordinating due diligence process on behalf of clients. Provide support to both buyer and seller.

Other: Supports Team in varied areas of analysis including one or all of the following: real estate industry/market, management reporting and variance analyses, budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning.

Identifies opportunities for improvements by and among the clients and/or companies. Special projects as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. May coordinate and assign tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and no more than 2-years relevant experience. Background in Finance, Accounting, Research and/or Business Analytics preferred. Knowledge of Capital Markets industry preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills.

Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Conducts basic financial analysis.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

Proficient in Microsoft Suite Products including: Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.

Experience with desktop, graphics, and presentation software and technology preferred. Ability to use query and report generating tools preferred.

Knowledge of and/or experience with Argus Enterprise and Salesforce a plus.

Decisions made with understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Responsible for setting own project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.

Desk analyst responsible for supporting the loan trading desk by providing credit analysis of syndicated leveraged loans, corporate earnings commentary/interpretation, trading idea generation, trading operations support, and special projects as needed. Completion of a formal bank credit training coupled with 2-3 years of relevant work experience is required. Exposure to and/or experience with analyzing leveraged capital structures is strongly preferred. Desk analyst will provide continuing research coverage of a universe of companies and will be responsible for evaluating their financial operating performance, identifying broader industry trends and key credit risks. Coverage focus will be on issuer companies where SunTrust is a lead arranger and an active market maker with the overall goal of helping to drive trading activity. As a part of this ongoing coverage, desk analyst will be responsible for identifying actionable trading and risk management opportunities that will be presented to the trading and sales teams when appropriate. The position will be industry neutral, allocating time across all traded industry groups but will have support of banking and leverage finance teams to the extent necessary. Additional responsibilities include keeping traders and sales abreast of news developments that may affect desk positions, trading axes, or new issue origination. The candidate should be self-motivated and prepared to work in a very autonomous environment where generating trade ideas on a consistent basis is a must. The position is located in Atlanta and the desk analyst will sit on the Loan Sales and Trading Desk, so the ability to operate effectively and confidently in a trading floor environment is important.
