Capernaum Director (Part-Time OR Full-Time)

Topeka Young Life is looking to hire our next Capernaum director in a part-time OR full-time capacity. The mission of Young Life is to introduce adolescents to Jesus and help them grow in their faith. This individual would be responsible for seeing that through with students who have disabilities.

The ideal candidate meets these criteria:

• Deep love for Jesus.

• Heart for those who aren't following Jesus.

• Emotional maturity.

• Ability to build and lead a team.

• Experience working with individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate spiritual leadership on a personal and area level.

• Recruit volunteer leaders for the Capernaum team.

• Weekly contact work with high school kids with disabilities.

• Lead club and Campaigners, proclaiming the gospel creatively and effectively in ways students can understand.

• Build healthy working relationships with the school administration, churches, parents, and the community.

• Participate in personal fundraising efforts.

• Participate in area fundraising efforts (annual benefit, golf tournament, wing-a-thon, etc.).

• Develop a Buddy Program with help from area staff to engage local high school students in the lives of students with disabilities.

• Communicate with parents and organize ministry in a way that serves and cares for families with kids with disabilities.

• Integrate the Capernaum club with the Washburn Rural High School Young Life club, bringing Capernaum students to Young Life club once a semester.

• Be a part of the Topeka Young Life area and team, working together for the common goal of introducing students to adolescents to Jesus and helping them grow in the faith.

Qualifications:

• A deep and growing faith in God.

• Must have some experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

• A passion for reaching lost adolescents and calling others to that mission.

• A philosophy and history of discipling others.

• Can start, lead, and oversee volunteer ministry teams.

• Has experience working directly with teenagers.

• Is adaptable and flexible in order to meet the vast and ever-changing needs of this student population.

• Willing to live in the community you are serving.

• Collaborates well with others as part of the staff team.
