Position Purpose:

Under the guidance of the Marketing Manager, assist in the efforts of the Trailer Division in the areas of forecasting and capacity planning. Also assist in the development of the annual operating plan and the associated revisions for the Division.

Essential Functions:

1.Establish strong working relationships with key customers in an effort to create an open line of communication for gathering market trend data, trailer build data, line rate data, etc.

2.Work closely with the Trailer Account Managers, Customers and OEM Inside Sales Manager to manage Hendrickson's blanket program.

  • Monitor weekly reserve quantities and fulfillment rate by customer.

  • Contact Sales/Customer to discuss noticeable trends and make recommendations to increase/decrease blanket reserve accordingly.

  • Update blanket orders accordingly, keeping OEM Inside Sales Manager, Trailer Account Specialist and Plants informed.

  • Publish weekly Blanket Summary report

3.With the collaboration of the Marketing Manager, assist in the development of the annual operating plan (AOP), by providing projected unit sales by product family by customer.

4.Review monthly sales history by product family by customer in an effort to determine if any variances require future adjustments to the forecast. Allows for quicker turnaround time on the 3+9, 6+6 and 8+4 forecasts throughout the year.

  • This utilizes a bottom-up approach, placing a focus on the blanket program data.

5.Work closely with Program Managers to understand any shift in product family mix or in dressed content, etc., so this can be translated to the AOP.

6.Understand and monitor the seasonality of Trailer Division sales and apply accordingly within the AOP.

7.Work with the Marketing Manager to understand market/industry trends that could affect YOY unit sales and apply this data to the AOP.

8.Rationalize average selling price (ASP) with Financial Analyst by product family by customer for use within the AOP.

9.Validate that the forecasted sales revenue of the AOP is in line with Division expectations.



  1. Validate that the forecasted units sales translates to an accurate estimate of trailer build.

  2. Lead cross-functional Capacity Planning Team including Division Operations and Materials representatives, as well as Plant Materials Managers and Plant Managers.

  3. Provide recommendations for daily capacity requirements by product line and mix within each manufacturing facility. Publish bi-weekly capacity/materials planning tool.


  • Monitor lead times and make capacity recommendations accordingly.

  1. Keep seasonality trends on team's radar to allow for proactive planning of manpower.

  2. When required, work with Operations, Outside Sales and Inside Sales on customer transfer activities from plant-to-plant. Assist in balancing (level loading) capacity between manufacturing facilities.

  3. Provide recommendations of customers to move, based on their ship history and product specifications, as well as volume projections, distance from facility, etc.

  4. Provide general marketing support to Marketing Manager on special projects.

  5. Sales and marketing analysis; PowerPoint presentations; Excel spreadsheets


Education and Training

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, supply chain or business required. MBA preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5-10 years Industrial marketing or related background in some/all of the following:

  • Sales/marketing management

  • Sales/marketing data analysis

  • Marketing research

  • Computer literacy with Windows environment.

Strong Excel spreadsheet skills

Light to moderate travel required.
