Summary:
The Canvas Support Administrator position located in the Center for Instructional Excellence is responsible for the smooth operation of the College's Learning Management System (LMS), Canvas as well as other associated instructional resources. This position will primarily include assisting users, troubleshooting, developing and presenting training to support teachers and students, and secondarily assisting with the development and assisting instructors with all aspects of the design of Canvas courses.
This Part-Time Canvas Support Administrator role is pivotal in ensuring that Canvas operates seamlessly campus-wide at Dixie Technical College. By managing the system effectively and assisting in course design, you will contribute to an enhanced educational experience for our students and instructors.
The College has 29 programs, nationally accredited by the Council on Occupational Education, which offer certificates in high-tech, high-demand professions.
This position will work 20-28 hours per week and will pay between $19 and $23 per hour.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Canvas support for troubleshooting issues for both students and faculty
Deliver group and individual trainings and consultations
Create and maintain a stronger Canvas support page for faculty to access
Develop various levels of Canvas training sessions and updates
Build courses and templates in Canvas according to detailed blueprints and in coordination with faculty and instructional specialists as needed
Stay up to date on the latest instructional technologies and related innovative applications
Provide the Center's Director with recommendations and suggested updates/changes that would optimize users' learning experience
Develop and revise innovative technology-enriched Canvas courses
Populate and format desired content, develop assessments in Canvas, design interactive learning resources, etc.
Work closely with instructors on the inclusion of any multimedia elements into the course and build and coordinate timelines to ensure that the course development remains on schedule
Support and help with implementation of Canvas tools such as Cidilabs, Simple Syllabus, Canvas Studio, etc.
Conduct a quality assurance review after each build and/or troubleshooting experience, ensuring that all technology is operating efficiently and effectively
Engage in strategic projects and research/test new instructional technologies
Contribute to regular process improvements to ensure operational success
Comply with Dixie Tech Policies and Procedures
Other duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred
Proficiency in the Canvas Learning Management System, with hands-on experience in administration, is required
Experience installing and maintaining various LTIs (Learning Tools Interoperability) and integrations to publishers is strongly preferred
At least two years of experience developing educational courses in a learning management system
Experience working with and creating interactive learning activities
Experience with software and hardware used in technology-based web conferencing software for online courses (e.g Zoom, Microsoft Teams), and other instructional technologies (e.g. blogs, wikis, Web 2.0 technologies, student response systems, etc.)
Knowledge of accessibility, WCAG 2.1, and universal design principles preferred
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues with learning technologies software accessed through desktop and mobile devices (e.g., LMS, Zoom, Tablets, webcams)
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical students, faculty, and staff
Ability to understand and solve complex problems which require follow-up with both internal and external constituencies
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong technical troubleshooting skills
Experience managing complex projects with limited resources
Must adhere to deadlines and respond to requests in a timely manner
Strong written and oral communication

The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 25 pounds or less. The position requires manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
