Work From Home Requirements:

  • A space free of distractions with stable internet connectivity.

  • Internet connection with a speed of at least 10 MBPS download & 2 MBPS upload.

  • Modem/Router with a minimum of 2 ethernet ports, and accessible for direct plug in to your Desktop and Phone. Wi-fi connectivity is not permitted.

  • Dedicated office space must be large enough to fit 2 monitors. Monitors are 22-inch wide screen monitors.

  • Must pass a typing proficiency test of 50 WPM

  • Must satisfactorily pass a technology assessment

  • Must be able to provide proof of homeowners/renters insurance

The American Cancer Society will provide some of the technical hardware equipment for you to perform in your role including desktop computer, two 22 inch monitors, phone, headset, keyboard & mouse, webcam, surge protector, adapters and connectors, and miscellaneous supplies.

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment

  • No or very limited physical effort required

  • Available to work evenings, late nights, weekends, holidays or travel when required

  • Work from home position
  • The position pays $16.25/hr. (For suburbs outside of San Antonio, there may be 5% differential)

  • You will receive a $45 monthly stipend for internet.

  • Must live in San Antonio or Greater San Antonio Market.

  • Full-Time, Shift will fall during 7:00am

  • 9:00pm CST Sunday

  • Saturday.

  • Shifts are 7.5 hours paid, Sunday
  • Saturday with an unpaid 30 or 60 minute lunch/dinner.
  • Weekly schedule will be consistent; may submit a change request after six months.

  • Paid mandatory training is 8-10 weeks, Monday

  • Friday 8:30am

The Cancer Resource Specialist is responsible for handling a high volume of inbound calls from constituents of the American Cancer Society. The CRS responds to a broad range of inquiries that may include cancer prevention and early detection information, requests for community resources, material orders and a variety of other topics related to the American Cancer Societys work.

This position is critical to providing support and promotion of the ACS mission, goals and objectives.

  • Handles high volume customer inbound calls, to the National Cancer Information Center in a consistent and customer focused manner

  • Identifies and evaluates constituent's needs and provides accurate and thorough information exchange

  • Provides current information and resources to constituents of the American Cancer Society, health care professionals, students and members of community organizations

  • Strives for first call resolution

  • Triages appropriate requests for patient service programs

  • Fulfills material orders

  • Collects all data points required by organizational processes and policies

  • Works to attain operational metrics while ensuring high quality call taking

  • Updates constituent records

  • Maintains professional approach and demeanor with constituents at all times

  • Takes ownership of constituent inquiries ensuring total constituent satisfaction

  • Maintains current knowledge of work related processes and policies

The PCT performs a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN) in a complementary and assistive role. He/she assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance to the PCT's training, competence and skill, hospital policies and procedures and the Texas Board of Nursing rules for delegated nursing tasks to unlicensed personnel (Rule 224.6). Consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well organized, adequately stocked and safe patient environment. Essential Job Functions: 1. Under the supervision of the RN, performs delegated patient care activities as directed. Delegated tasks may include: a. Obtaining vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, calorie counts, and simple non-sterile dressing changes b. Safe patient handling: Turning and positioning, use of specialty beds, patient transfer and use of transfer devices, ambulation assistance and use of assistive devices, restraint alternatives, oxygen use and transport, suction use, pre-operative skin preparation and/or use of sequential compression devices (SCD) c. Specimen collection, including blood collection for bedside glucose testing 2. Consistently assists with maintaining a safe patient environment to include: a. Addressing identified hazards in the physical environment of the patient room to prevent patient falls b. Hand hygiene and consistent use of standard precautions c. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as appropriate following transmission based precautions procedures 3. Communicates accurate information for delegated patient care activities performed, to including observed patient response to performed activities to the assigned RN (following hand-off communication guidelines). 4. Assists the RN in collecting data from patients on admission and assists with patient transfer or discharge preparations as instructed. 5. Assists patients with bathing, shaving, oral care, toileting, grooming, changing linens, providing water, assisting with meal delivery and feeding as directed. 6. Performs hourly rounding, consistently uses AIDET when interacting with patients, and responds to call lights timely. Education: High school graduate or equivalent education required. Experience: None Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
