The SCCC department is seeking a Central Cancer Registry Specialist that identifies, registers, and maintains records of all cancer patients by using a registry data system. Analyzes data and releases information in adherence to established ethical standards.

CORE JOB SUMMARY

The Lymphoma Cancer Registry Specialist maintains, updates follow up on outcomes of patients. In accordance with department standard operating procedures, under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) and supervisor, the lymphoma Research Data Specialist is responsible for the compilation, registration and follow up data. Further, the Lymphoma Cancer Registry Specialist analyzes data and releases information in compliance with policies and standards.

Department Specific Functions

  • The person will be responsible for generation and maintenance of lymphoma subtype specific databases that will include patients, information at presentation, disease characteristics and staging, laboratory and imaging data. treatments received, response to treatments and periodic follow up based on electronic records or call phones. All compliant to protocol and HIPPA rules. The individual will have weekly meetings with PI to review questions regarding data entries and follow up. Will be able to summarize specific data with basic statistical methods for use for report and publication preparation.

  • Able to extract and enter pathological diagnoses in tissue bank database.

  • This position is needed for: instant availability of clinical data for planning of clinical trials, summary of SCCC Lymphoma team experience, retrospective data analyses and publications. Maintenance of Lymphoma tissue bank repository. These are not activities performed by CRS staff.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Extracts clinical data and research data from electronic medical records and other sources and enters this data in the clinical paper-based or electronic data capture system for each assigned study.

  • Generate specific lymphoma databases for individual types of lymphoma using approved secure RedCap computer platformed stored at approved University Cloud for clinical research studies.

  • Collect data from electronic medical records, tumor registries, tumor boards, social security databases, or other databases.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor's degree

Experience:

One year of relevant experience required. Basic knowledge in medical terminology preferred.
