Job Description:

Full Time, Days

The Cancer Registrar performs case finding, accessioning, abstracting and follow-up of patients discharged from Central Baptist Hospital with a cancer diagnosis. Provides coordination and organization of the Cancer Registry database for reporting.

  • Two years post high school formal academic instruction in a health related field. High school diploma.

  • Two years of cancer registry experience Strong working knowledge medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease processes and treatment methods required.

  • Coding experience in an acute care setting preferred.

  • Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) or documented eligibility to sit for the CTR exam with satisfactory completion within one year of employment.

  • Strong computer skills Excellent interpersonal skills and strong organizational skills Investigative/analytic skills with detail orientation

VIEW JOBS 2/22/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-05-22T00:00 Job Summary A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Ren Xu within the Markey Cancer Center and Department of Pharmacology & Nutritional Sciences at the University of Kentucky. The NIN/NCI funded projects involve molecular biology, patient-derived and transgenic mouse models, and omics approaches to understand function and regulation of tumor microenvironment in breast cancer metastasis and drug resistance, with the overall long-term goal of identifying novel targets from tumor microenvironment for cancer treatment. Representative publications from the laboratory can be found in Cancer Research 2012 (PMID: 22350413), Nature Cell Biol 2012 (PMID:22581054), Cancer Research 2015 (PMID: 25744716), ACS Nano 2015(PMID: 26387848), Breast Cancer Res 2018 (PMID: 30285809), Nature Communication 2018 (PMID: 30367042), and PNAS 2020. Highly motivated candidates with a recent PhD or MD/PhD in biomedical sciences, experience in molecular and cell biology, and strong 1st author publication record are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates are expected to aggressively pursue their research projects and participate in a number of collaborations. Salary will be at or above published guidelines of the National Institutes of Health, with travel funds available to attend national and international meetings.
