WVU Extension Service is currently accepting applications for a Campus Service Worker at Jackson's Mill.

About the Opportunity

As a Campus Service Worker, you will clean, and maintain buildings, grounds, and facilities (including offices, classrooms, private and dormitory housing, meeting rooms, public areas, and walkways) adhering to established procedures, all safety regulations, and proper disinfecting techniques to ensure a safe and pleasant environment.

Location: Jackson's Mill (Weston, WV)

Work Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm

What you'll do:

• Clean and sanitize high contact areas, guest rooms, and cottages.

• Clean and sanitize washrooms and fixtures and ensure they are stocked with needed supplies.

• Wash and clean walls, ceilings, doors, windows, radiators, and ventilators.

• Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors.

• Clean up spills with appropriate equipment.

• Use disinfectants, germicidal detergents, and other stringent cleaning solutions following established safety procedures.

• Distribute, return, and count dirty linens for cottages.

• Remove, wash, and hang curtains and draperies.

• Put soiled linens out for pick up and/or wash and dry them in commercial machines.

• Empty and clean waste receptacles

• Transport trash and waste to disposal area.

• Sweep and remove water and debris from sidewalk, steps, and entryways.

• Notify supervisor of equipment and facilities needing repair or replacement.

• Perform light maintenance work such as replacing accessible light bulbs, changing filters, using plunger to unstop drains, sinks and toilets.

• Ensure guests have a positive experience at WVU Jackson's Mill.

• Ensure timely completion of tasks and utilization of materials.

• Attend required training.

• Attend required staff meetings.

• Promote cooperation and teamwork across all WVU Jackson's Mill departments.

• Perform other duties as may be assigned to support the efficient operation of WVU Jackson's Mill.

• High School Diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 0-6 months experience in the following areas:

• Proper commercial cleaning procedures such as mixing chemical for disinfecting purposes and use of floor maintenance equipment.

• Inventory procedures for stocking supplies.

• Light maintenance of sinks, drains, faucets, changing light bulbs, etc.

• Attention to detail, while working within minimum time constraints.

• Ability to work as a team.

• Organization and thoroughness.

• Ability to maintain a professional appearance and interact positively and respectfully with guests and coworkers.

• Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions.

• Ability to maintain proper attendance and punctuality standards.

• Ability to utilize standard WVU issued email, and time management software.
