Position Available: Year Round Hourly Rate or Pay Range: $18 per hour Application Deadline: Position open until filled.

The campus safety officer at Northland College plays a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of the campus community. This position involves patrolling assigned areas, responding to incidents, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Security Patrol and Incident Response:

• Conduct routine patrols of campus buildings, grounds, and parking lots

• Respond promptly to emergencies, accidents, and incidents

• Address safety concerns and enforce campus policies

• Emergency Preparedness:

• Familiarize oneself with emergency response plans and protocols

• Participate in drills and training sessions to ensure preparedness

• Assist in maintaining emergency communication systems

• Access Control and Safety Measures:

• Monitor access points to campus facilities

• Lock and unlock doors as needed

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations

• Community Engagement:

• Build positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff

• Promote safety awareness and encourage responsible behavior

• Collaborate with campus stakeholders to enhance safety initiatives

• Reporting and Documentation:

• Maintain accurate records of incidents, patrols, and safety checks

• Prepare incident reports and contribute to safety-related documentation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or completion of a Law Enforcement Academy program in a relevant field (e.g. security management, criminal justice) OR equivalent work experience

• Minimum of two years of experience in campus safety, security, or a related field

• Knowledge of emergency-preparedness procedures and security technologies

• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with diverse individuals

• Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within a campus safety context
