Georgetown College is seeking candidates for a full time Campus Safety Officer. This is a service-oriented position that provides a safe and secure environment for students, employees and visitors of Georgetown College. This individual will assist in enforcing college policies and provide coverage for college events, as necessary. Background in law enforcement, security and/or prevention is preferred. Employment is conditional upon passing a pre-employment physical/drug screen and a background check.
Established in 1829, Georgetown College is a distinguished private college in the Bluegrass region of central Kentucky, offering primarily undergraduate programs in the liberal arts, sciences, and professions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Patrol and monitor campus activities
Ensure the safety of students, employees, visitors and property
Maintain working knowledge of the locations of various departments, buildings, access routes and admitting requirements
Assist and communicate with Student Life staff regarding student conduct, housing, security, and safety
Develop, monitor and enforce all college safety and security procedures
Enforce procedural rules and regulations
Use both written and verbal skills in order to effectively promote a positive work environment with staff
Conduct safety inspections
Facilitate loss prevention efforts
Coordinate parking and traffic control
Assist in maintaining the College's compliance with fire safety and other campus regulations
Provide escorts when requested
Lock and unlock doors / buildings
Report, in writing, any and all safety concerns
Collaborate and build relationships with Local and State Emergency Services and Officials
Provide coverage for sporting and other college events as needed
Respond to emergency situations as requested by the Director (sometimes outside of regularly scheduled shifts)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Education and / or Experience - High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred; or two to four year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to handle potential emergency situations in a calm, rational, efficient manner.
Communication / Language -- Requires effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Mathematical -- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning -- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations -- Valid driver's license with a clean record.
Computer Literacy / General Office Equipment -- Intermediate computer literacy. Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
