Location: Great Bend, KS 67530

Rate of Pay: $18.93 - $21.11 Hourly

Position Description

To provide safety services to the college; maintaining the security of all buildings and property of the college. This position also serves as a Campus Safety Authority as required by federal law in the Clery Act.

Position Responsibilities

40% - Patrols campus, checking and maintaining security to all buildings and grounds.20% - Provides campus safety services (unlocking/locking doors to buildings, starting stalled vehicles, emergency weather notification, respond to campus emergencies, monitor events on campus, assist visitors on campus in finding buildings or personnel, etc.)15% - Monitors facilities and reports any concerns or problems to Facility Management for repair.10% - Investigates college criminal or traffic concerns/complaints. Monitors parking concerns and enforcement.5% - Maintain a report log, filed each shift, of duties performed and time of said duties. Keep reports on all campus safety related incidents.5%

  • Assumes specified responsibilities in the Coordinator's absence. Attend training sessions or meetings as required by Coordinator.5% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned.

2.To ensure by visual presence on patrol the security of all buildings and grounds, while providing campus safety services to all individuals on college property.

3.To understand the responsibilities of good public relations to all patrons of the college.

4.To maintain professionalism in the work environment and in appearance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience

  • Six months to two years of similar or related experience. Education

  • A high school education or GED. Associates Degree preferred.Interpersonal Skills

  • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.Other Skills

  • Be in good physical condition. Posses a valid Kansas Drivers License.

    Posses good written and verbal communication skills. Have the ability to fill out and complete investigative reports and daily logs. Be able to use independent judgment.

    Ability to work shift work, including nights and weekends. This position is an armed position. Applicants must pass a psychological evaluation before employment.

    Knowledge of state and federal statutes, criminal justice procedures and policies preferred. Associates degree preferred.

Physical Requirements

The work requires moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing, repetitively lifting lightweight objects with frequent bending or stooping, recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as computer, printers or record boxes. Occasionally lifts heavy objects (over 50 pounds). Job requires average agility and dexterity.

Regular exposure to unfavorable environments such as: weather, body fluids, confined, dirty and noisy locations. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment such as masks, coats, gowns, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields.

Wages/Other

The salary range for this position is $17.87 to $20.12.

Required qualifications: high school education or equivalent; good physical condition; ability to use independent judgment; work shift work, including nights and weekends; and possess a valid Kansas driver's license, good written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to fill out and complete investigative reports/daily logs.
