Primary Purpose:

Under general supervision, provide security and protection for students, staff and visitors and prevents property loss due to theft or vandalism.



High School Diploma or GED

Clear and valid Texas driver's license

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to clearly and accurately record information

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Ability to work effectively with youths and adults

Ability to communicate effectively (verbally)



Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Student Management

  • Patrol assigned campus. Monitor student behavior and enforce school rules related to student conduct, vehicle operation, and parking.

  • Resolve conflict or confrontation between students and report disturbances to principal or assistant principal.

  • Control traffic and parking on campus grounds during school hours and at after hours events.

Security and Parking

  • Register student vehicles and maintain accurate records of registration.

  • Work cooperatively with office personnel to inform students of problems with vehicles (i.e., improperly parked, lights on, etc.)

  • Assist law enforcement personnel as needed.

  • Notify police, fire department, or other appropriate authority of any situation requiring immediate attention.

  • Give directions or act as a guide to authorized visitors.

Tools/Equipment Used: District vehicle, two-way radio, alarm system and other security equipment, fire extinguisher, and standard office equipment including computer and peripherals

Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing

Motion: Strenuous walking and climbing stairs; occasional keyboarding and use of mouse, moderate driving

Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (1544 pounds)

Environment: Work inside and outside (moderate exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); moderate exposure to noise and vehicle exhaust; frequent districtwide travel.

Other: Specific hearing and visual requirements; may be subject to adverse and hazardous working conditions, including violent and armed confrontations; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously

This is a 187 day position. Salary will be based upon previous experience.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: List most important duties first 1. Observes instructional practice and provides a formative assessment of strengths and weaknesses. Provides real-time feedback and access to relevant development opportunities. 2. Provides critical "on the job" coaching to teachers in support of their professional development. 3. Works with teachers and principals to review performance data and development plans, and to identify teachers' strengths and prioritize most pressing development needs to increase student achievement. 4. Helps to identify and connect teachers to appropriate PD opportunities to meet priority needs. 5. Monitors teachers' efficacy in applying new skills and impact on student learning, adjusts approach as necessary to achieve goals for teacher improvement and student achievement. 6. Provides input to the Primary Appraiser as one input into the appraisal process. 7. Partners with Principals and SIOs to ensure focus is aligned to development priorities for individual teachers and across the campus. 8. Collaborates with other Teacher Development Specialists within their team and across teams to think strategically about PD - e.g., review performance data, reflect on themes, determine how to aggregate and prioritize needs, and allocate resources accordingly. 9. Taps into school based resources (e.g., Teacher Leaders, Dept. Heads) to deliver PD support – e.g., mentoring, modeling, facilitation, training, etc. 10. Leads group learning opportunities focused on increasing teacher effectiveness in a specific area. 11. Identifies high need training topics, works with PD Central Support to develop high value training, and delivers training where appropriate and able. 12. Improves teachers' instructional, content, and developmental expertise on an ongoing basis by participating in research-based learning opportunities. 13. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree WORK EXPERIENCE: 5 to 7 years of proven successful teaching experience as demonstrated by a track record of success in increasing student achievement. Successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in the designated subject. Subject matter expert in designated subject(s). Exceptional interpersonal skills, able to relate one-on-one and in groups with confidence and poise. Ability to provide critical and constructive feedback to effect immediate change. Highly analytical, able to interpret data and weigh multiple options. Strong communicator, ability to write clearly and analytically, able to evidence support. A problem solver, able to prioritize multiple scenarios. Ability to model research-based teaching strategies Self-starter, flexible, able to adapt and adjust quickly to changing situations and needs. TYPE OF SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION: Microsoft Office; Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier) LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES: No supervisory or direct people management responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice and training to staff. WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT: Work is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the department. Supervision received typically consists of providing direction on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities. BUDGET AUTHORITY: No budget development activity is required.
