Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Assists with planning, development, design, coordination and the approval process for projects that compose the Campus Master Plan and the Five Year Capital Plan including capital and internal projects for the University of South Carolina. Provides expertise to manage and expand the physical campus in a manner that reflects thoughtful stewardship.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Master's degree in Architecture and 4 years professional experience in planning, construction or a related field; or a bachelor's degree in architecture and 6 years professional experience in planning, construction or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Architectural registration or an intention to become registered in the future.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of architecture and facility construction and general knowledge of engineering principles. General knowledge of laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the construction and modification of facilities. Ability to prepare graphic presentations. Expertise in the use of CAD, architectural digital rendering, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office software systems. Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules and regulations governing architectural project management for building construction or facility renovation projects. Ability to establish positive working relationships with customers, superiors, subordinates, associates, state, local and federal professional personnel and other public and private sector organizations and individuals. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to problem solve and utilize conscious decision-making. Ability to build teams and involve stakeholders. Proficiency with AutoCad rendering, Revit and Sketch-up is preferred.
