The VISTA's primary responsibility will be to build the capacity of the Cesar Batalla-Fairfield University Partnership, also known as the Student Teachers Empowerment Partnership (STEP). STEP was established with the goal of developing a model partnership that brings the diverse resources of a university together with the diverse resources of a PreK-8 public school to accomplish mutually-beneficial goals. The Partnership Coordinator will support the partnership in improving academic and social-emotional outcomes for Batalla students by monitoring and supporting all partnership programming.
In the third year, the VISTA will focus on capacity-building efforts around data collection and program assessment/evaluation, finalizing a strategic plan, and increasing community outreach. The biweekly living allowance for this position is $925.12 in Fairfiled County, CT. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide the following: rent support, meal plan, fitness center pass, access to free or reduced courses, conference attendance, and professional development opportunities.
The AmeriCorps VISTA serving at Fairfield University will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps.
