About the Opportunity
The Development team works to secure the philanthropic resources necessary to advance the Foundation's mission through its programs and operations. The team works closely with volunteers and colleagues from across the organization to present the Foundation's case for support through gifts, grants, and sponsorships. Team members collaborate to maximize engagement and giving from individual donors and institutional funders alike.
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer of the Clinton Foundation, the Campaign Director is responsible for the day-to-day management of a major fundraising campaign that will fund the expansion and renovation of the Clinton Presidential Center, the creation of the Hillary Rodham Clinton Institute, the ongoing work of the Clinton Global Initiative, and other organizational priorities.
Core Responsibilities
Prospect management, cultivation, and solicitation preparation
Identify, segment, and prioritize the top 100+ prospective donors for significant gifts
Manage prospect pipeline and activity tracking
Partner with organizational leadership to develop personalized strategies for campaign prospects, and support leaders in implementing plans
Supervise a campaign prospect researcher responsible for identifying additional campaign prospects, at the $1 million+ level, and preparing detailed prospect profiles
Supervise a campaign briefing lead
Develop a strategy for the use of campaign cultivation events and partner with the Development Events team to implement; drive effective and proactive follow-up after cultivation events
Support the preparation and execution of solicitation and briefing meetings and drive all necessary follow-up
Partner on the development of customized proposals and other tailored donor materials
Campaign planning:
Continue to build out the campaign plan, including donor identification and cultivation plans, solicitation strategies, donor stewardship and recognition opportunities, giving and naming policies, etc.
Develop and maintain a campaign calendar with benchmarks, including both financial and activity metrics for success
Partner on the development of a campaign budget and consistently monitor and manage budget adherence
Create, implement, and iterate campaign systems, tools, and processes to drive the entire prospect lifecycle
Campaign material development and donor acknowledgment/stewardship
Coordinate very closely with the Foundation's Marketing and Communications team on the development and revision of campaign messaging and materials, supporting the consistent use of campaign messaging and branding
Building on the campaign case for support, continuously develop and refresh customized campaign collateral, donor communications, and marketing materials
Ensure acknowledgement of all campaign gifts and pledges and preparation of pledge payment reminders
Implement donor stewardship plans
Campaign data analysis and reporting and internal alignment:
Ensure that all campaign activity is captured in the database
Prepare regular reporting for organizational leadership, the board, and other constituencies
Track campaign results, in partnership with the Finance team
Organize regular meetings of organizational leaders to discuss and coordinate campaign efforts
Keep Foundation staff and key stakeholders updated and engaged in campaign activity and progress
Supervise campaign prospect researcher position and briefing position
Create an inclusive team where feedback is freely available, and transparency is the norm
Lead the co creation of goals and expectations for department/team.
Give and solicit feedback from reports and peers regularly as both part of formal processes and informal day to day.
Actively coach and develop your team. Play an active role in the hiring process when needed.
Be the link between your team and other teams, departments and overall Foundation goals, activities and best practices
Minimum Qualifications
What we're looking for:
Bachelor's Degree required; relevant advanced degree is beneficial
At least 11 years of professional experience in the field in positions of increasing responsibility. At least 2-3 of those years must have been directing a team or multiple projects or a function.
Demonstrated success in individual, including significant experience with portfolio management require
Documented success in the preparation of six and seven-figure grant and sponsorship proposals
Experience working with executive leadership and volunteer boards/committees preferred
Proficiency with CRM systems, MSOffice, and Internet required
Ability to think strategically and contextually, and to anticipate the needs and expectations of executive leaders.
Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple, concurrent tasks, exhibit flexibility, and meet deadlines
Acts with tact and discretion, respecting confidentiality and proprietary information
Superb verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Possesses a passion for the work of the Foundation and its mission
Compensation & Benefits
Our best estimate of the compensation range for this opportunity is $140 - 150K annually, depending on the experience you bring. This role is not eligible for overtime pay. This range is based on NYC market rates and may be adjusted if you will be working remotely.
