New Student Trips (NSTs) offer new students an opportunity to launch their Lewis & Clark collegiate career in a fun and adventurous way. NSTs happen just before the college-wide New Student Orientation (NSO) and are designed to help students transition to life at LC through fostering relationships with peers and experienced students.
Our goals for these trips are for it to be fun, to help students become oriented to Portland and LC, and to explore some of the stories, practices, and communities that comprise the landscape of the Pacific Northwest.
Lewis & Clark College is made up of people who have varieties of identities, experiences, and affiliations. In our work, and in this trip, we commit to curiosity and celebration of this rich mosaic and we hope to welcome all into conversation and community, despite differences in belief, feeling, or experience.
These trips will involve various activities that engage the group in playful and adventuresome fun as well as some reflective activities and discussions.
We are looking to hire responsible and caring leaders who are excited to form relationships with new students, be role models and guides to new students looking towards life at LC and in Portland, and who have curiosity towards the particular NST themes - and who are willing to share that exploration with others.
